Ministry hosts CNY celebration, presents awards to staff members
KUCHING: The Ministry of Transport, Sarawak (MOTS) organised a Chinese New Year celebration with officers and staff of the ministry as well as affiliated agencies at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here recently.
The ministry in a statement said the celebration was also held to give recognition to officers and staff from MOTS and Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) for their excellence in service and respective duties.
Several awards and appreciations were presented to MOTS and SRB officers and staff based on their dedication and commitment to their duties in their respective fields, including involvement in social and community activities.
Among the awards and recognitions were the Excellent Service Award (APC), Excellent Service Performance Certificate, as well as appreciation to retiring officers and staff and to those who are about to be transferred.
A special Minister of Transport Sarawak Award was also introduced at the ceremony, which went to SRB (Region II) enforcement assistant MohdZailani Han Abdullah who is based in Kapit.
The 50-year-old was recognised for his quick and courageous action in saving a woman from a suicide attempt at the Kapit Passenger Terminal Wharf on Jan 5, 2022. Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said this award was created as a catalyst to increase accountability in contributing energy and effort to the ministry and community.
“This appreciation can also serve as an example, a role model and a good influence that mobilises the efforts of an officer and other staff members,” he said.
The Minister of Transport Sarawak Award is the highest recognition at the ministry level and awarded to any officer and staff who is actively involved in activities at MOTS and agency level, national or international, that can raise the image of the ministry, sown services and contributions that are very significant in their service, brought significant changes to the ministry’s management and service delivery system, as well as contributed to the community and the local community an example to other colleagues.
Also present were deputy ministers Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Dato Henry Harry Jinep, MOTS permanent secretary Dato Alice Jawan Empaling and SRB controller Lt Col Ding Tiew Wong.
