Bams defies cancer to perform in Trio Terhebat Vol. 1 concert

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Former vocalist of the popular Indonesian band Samsons, Bambang Reguna, affectionately known as Bams, has been battling the ravages of muscle and skin cancer for the past three years.

However, this has not deterred him from realising his dream of performing on the Malaysian stage.

A dream deeply rooted since he embarked on his solo career 12 years ago is about to come true as he joins the Trio Terhebat Vol.1 concert alongside his industry peers, Marcell Siahaan, the former vocalist of the renowned band Dewa 17, Once Mekel.

For Bams, the opportunity to grace this stage is an incredibly precious moment, as it would allow him to serenade fans with his timeless hits like Naluri Lelaki, Kenangan Terindah, Akhir Rasa Ini, and Kisah Tak Sempurna.

“The cancer is still here, but it doesn’t affect my artistic career because it’s only spread to three per cent of my body. My health is optimal; I just need to be mindful of my diet because my kind of cancer happened due to overworking my body,” he shared during the Trio Terhebat Vol.1 media session held here yesterday.

Even though he is no longer undergoing treatment, Bams recognises the need for ample rest to ensure complete recovery. Bams, 41, also shared exciting news about releasing his second solo album in Indonesia and Malaysia next year, dedicated to his fans.

“I’m eager to create more art, but this year, my country (Indonesia) had an election. So I didn’t think it was wise to do anything in terms of entertainment because the whole focus was on politics,” he remarked.

Discussing the upcoming concert, Bams assures that he is committed to delivering his best performance, even when sharing the stage with Once, who is said to have a higher vocal range.

“I don’t need to be good at everything because every artist has their advantage and uniqueness,” he emphasised.

Meanwhile, Marcell Siahaan, 47, who is part of the handsome group of Indonesian artists at the upcoming concert here in May, mentioned that he does not have any timeline to retire from singing.

“For me, there is no such thing as retirement from singing.

“It’s different from being a politician. I am a singer, so I’ll continue singing until the end of my life,” he expressed with conviction.

The audience is in for a treat at the Trio Terhebat Vol.1 concert set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 4, with a lineup of 30 songs.

Marcell’s popular tunes like Semusim, Firasat, Takkan Terganti, Mendendam, Peri Cintaku, and Jangan Pernah Berubah will resonate through the venue.

Once Mekel, on the other hand, will belt out soulful hits such as Dealova, Hilang Naluri, Kucinta Kau Apa Adanya, and Ditentukan Untuk Bersama, while Bams will revive classics like Naluri Lelaki, Kenangan Terindah, Akhir Rasa Ini, and Kisah Tak Sempurna.

With six ticket options available — Hanya Memuji (RM268), Semusim (RM308), Hilang Naluri (RM358), Akhir Rasa Ini (RM458), Dealova (RM558), and Kenangan Terindah (RM1388) — fans can secure their seats through www. ticket2u.com.
