Tiong: India-KL flight bolsters tourism, cultural exchanges
The inaugural flight from Thiruvananthapuram, India to Kuala Lumpur yesterday marks an exciting milestone towards strengthening the air connectivity and ties between Malaysia and India, said Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture said this route holds great promise for bolstering tourism and facilitating cultural exchange between the two nations.
He said his ministry anticipates a significant boost in tourism traffic and a surge in visitor arrival from India to Malaysia, following the recent waiver of visa coupled with the introduction of this new route.
“Today marks a momentous occasion as we extend a warm welcome to the inaugural flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Kuala Lumpur! This new route marks an exciting milestone, solidifying air connectivity and fostering stronger ties between Malaysia and India.
“I am delighted to celebrate the arrival of the first flight from Thiruvananthapuram, further enhancing our connectivity with South India.
“As this is the second direct route to the state of Kerala after Kochi, this route holds great promise for bolstering tourism and facilitating cultural exchange between our nations,” Tiong said in a Facebook post yesterday.
For that, the Bintulu MP applauded AirAsia for their continuous efforts in expanding air connectivity between the two nations, enabling more travellers to visit our beautiful country.
“To our friends travelling from Trivandrum, India, this journey is scheduled four times weekly, which only takes four hours 10 minutes.
“The flight departs from Trivandrum every Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday to Kuala Lumpur,” said Tiong.
