KUCHING: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Stampin branch recently received an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Trainer from Altica Sdn Bhd, a company known for its medical devices.

As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Altica donated the AED Trainer with the aim of ensuring that the community would be better prepared to handle cardiac emergencies.

The AED Trainer is designed to mimic real-life situations which would allow emergency responders and ordinary folk to have a chance to practise on proper AED use.

MRC Stampin branch chairman Chai Chon Hon, who was on hand to receive the device from Altica chief business officer Ikmal Hizaz, said Altica’s donation of the AED Trainer will be of great assistance to the community.

“It’s not just about responding to emergencies, but it’s also about giving people the power to save lives,” he said.

Sharing the same sentiment, MRC Stampin branch lead professional trainer Chang Kuet Onn said it is crucial that everyone in the community pitch in when it comes to community safety.

“Altica’s commitment to helping us prepare for emergencies aligns perfectly with our mission to keep our community safe and healthy.

“This AED Trainer will be a key part of our training programmes, giving people the skills they need to make a real difference when it matters most,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ikmal said Altica has always believed in taking proactive steps to care for the communities.

“Contributing this AED Trainer is just one of the ways we can help to make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.
