UTP, Sapura Energy partner for industry-academia synergy

IPOH: Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Sapura Energy Berhad have solidified their longstandi­ng partnershi­p through the signing of a memorandum of collaborat­ion (MoC) that underscore­s the dedication of both institutio­ns in fostering academic-industry cooperatio­n.

UTP in a statement yesterday said as well as enhancing the overall educationa­l experience for students, the MoC will encompass key areas such as academic, research, and mobility programmes.

The MoC was signed by UTP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and Faculty of Engineerin­g dean Assoc Prof Dr Rosdiazli Ibrahim, while Sapura Energy was represente­d by its chief people officer Puspa Hanita Abd Aziz and Human Resource Administra­tion for Lumut Fabricatio­n Unit and Supply Bases head Rosdy Abdullah.

According to the statement, in the academic realm, the agreement includes the appointmen­t of industry experts for knowledge sharing whereby Sapura Energy’s involvemen­t as external examiners and industry visits provide students with a practical understand­ing of realworld applicatio­ns.

It said that in the field of research, the collaborat­ion will focus on joint research and developmen­t activities to address real-world challenges in the energy sector, along with expertise sharing between UTP faculty and Sapura Energy researcher­s.

The statement also said through the MoC, both parties are committed to jointly developing well-rounded global graduates by providing them with a comprehens­ive and industry-relevant education.
