Limbang to host state-level ‘Tilawah, Hafazan Al-Quran’ event this year

KUCHING: Limbang will host the 63rd edition of the state-level ‘Tilawah and Hafaz Al-Quran’ programme, to be taking place at Limbang Civic Centre this March 6 to 9.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan announced this during a press conference at Wisma Sumber Alam in Petra Jaya here yesterday.

According to him, the fourday event will also hold other activities including the planting of 1,000 trees, a special exhibition and a cooking demonstrat­ion, as well as a series of quizzes offering attractive prizes.

“Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the opening ceremony on March 6 at Limbang Civic Centre.

“Thus, we would like to encourage the public, particular­ly the residents of Limbang, to support the programme and take part in the activities lined up by the organiser,” he said.

Awang Tengah said Yang DiPertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar would declare the closing of the state-level ‘Tilawah and Hafaz AlQuran 2024’ and perform the prize presentati­on on March 9.

This year’s edition is organised by the Limbang committee, in collaborat­ion with Sarawak Islamic Council and with support from the state government.

Among those present at the press conference were Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommun­ication Sarawak Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who is also minister in charge of Islamic affairs in the state; Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commoditie­s and Regional Developmen­t Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, who is Bukit Kota assemblyma­n, and Sarawak Islamic Council president Datu Misnu Taha.
