SM Wong Nai Siong targets RM150,000 from upcoming food sale

-

SIBU: A sum of RM150,000 is targeted to be raised from SM Wong Nai Siong’s food sale on April 27, said Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau.

The school’s Board of Directors chairman said the food sale will be held at the school’s roofed basketball court from 7.30am to 1pm.

He said the event is jointly organised by the board, old students’ association as well as current students.

“Our target for the fundraising is RM150,000 and we hope we will be able to exceed the target sum with the good support from the public.

“I think for the past few years, this has always been the target that we want to achieve,”

Lau told a press conference at Wisma Huawen Du Zhong here yesterday.

Adding on, he said the fundraising is one of the activities conducted in conjunction with SM Wong Nai Siong’s 57th anniversary celebration.

“Apart from being part of the celebration, we will be using the event to raise funds for the school.

“Because SM Wong Nai Siong is a Chinese Independent School, we depend on the community for the support so that we can continue to fund and operate the school,” he said.

Lau pointed out that the other objective of organising this food sale is to encourage the public to visit the school.

“In that way, we can bring our school closer to the community because we need the community’s support, and they will be able to understand our school environment and also the kind of education that we provide for the younger generation.

“In other words, we want to bring the people closer to the school and understand the school,” he said.

Additionally, he said the food sale will provide the opportunity for students to “learn something that is not from the textbook”.

Coupons are priced at RM5 and RM10 each, and can be obtained from Wong Xiu Jun on 019-856 5732 and Cr Yiing Sy Huat on 0172281437.
