Organisers thank sponsors for success of Girl Guides Run 2024

KUCHING: The organisers of the Girl Guides Run 2024 have expressed gratitude to all the sponsors for supporting the community event, dedicated to promoting unity and also fundraisin­g for the Girl Guides Associatio­n Malaysia Sarawak Branch.

Held in collaborat­ion with the Ministry for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, the event last weekend recorded an encouragin­g turnout of 1,000 participan­ts.

“We would like to thank UM Colours, Emart, The Waterfront Hotel, Kayusar Sdn Bhd, Davie Bong, Nobel Pang, Ruth Sibat, Forest Craft Com., Datuk Barry Tan, Annie Sim, Grand Continenta­l Hotel, Riverside Majestic Hotel, as well as Wah Tung Travel and Services for their kind contributi­ons.

“We would also like to thank Song Logging, San ChinBBC JV Sdn Bhd, Shin Yang Plywood (Bintulu) Sdn Bhd, Hock Peng Furniture and General Contractor Sdn Bhd, KTS Mutual Sdn Bhd, Fuya Energy Sdn Bhd, TSG Group Sdn Bhd, Tan Sri Bustari Yusuf, STIDC, Alex Ting, Allan Sim of Coramax Sdn Bhd, Wong Sie Kong, Lee Ling Timber Sdn Bhd and Albert Hii of Kemena Holdings Sdn Bhd ,” said the organisers in a statement.

The flag-off took place at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) building, performed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi who is patron for Girl Guides Associatio­n Malaysia Sarawak Branch.

The organisers said the event served as a platform for members of the Girl Guides Associatio­n Malaysia Sarawak to engage with individual­s from diverse background­s.

“Proceeds from the event will go towards funding various activities undertaken by the associatio­n, including member’s training, skills developmen­t, camping, and the purchase of equipment for their headquarte­rs located at Jalan Batu Lintang in Kuching.

“Among the dignitarie­s present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife Dato Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, who is the president of Girl Guides Associatio­n Malaysia Sarawak,” said the organisers.

It is informed that the Sarawak branch of the Girl Guides Associatio­n is set to host the Conference and National Annual General Meeting for the Girl Guides Associatio­n Malaysia, this June.

The event, expected to host 400 Girl Guides leaders and members from across the country, would be staged at the Riverside Majestic here.

Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Royal Patron for the Girl Guides Associatio­n Malaysia, is expected to grace the opening ceremony.
