JCI Miri holds field trips to Trieneken landfill, YourgutBB
MIRI: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Miri recently held field trips to Trieneken Mambong landfill and YourgutBB, involving by 20 of its members and those from other chapters.
The programme was aimed at strengthening partnership, promote community engagement and foster sustainable development.
The visit to Trieneken landfill in Mambong provided an opportunity for the JCI members to learn and understand waste management practices and environment sustainability.
During the visit, members of the delegation witnessed innovative approaches for waste disposal and conservation initiatives, emphasising the critical role businesses play in addressing environmental challenges.
Later, they went to YourgutBB, a yogurt start-up in Kuching, where participants explored further into the art of crafting locally-fermented Greek yogurt.
“The session not only provided the members with a firsthand look at sustainable dairy production, but also highlighted the significance of supporting local businesses championing traditional methods and regional ingredients,” said the programme’s organising chairperson Kelly Toh, in a statement.
Toh also expressed her gratitude to the participating chapters, namely JCI
Kuala Lumpur, JCI Bandar Kajang, JCI Sibu, JCI Jalan Tanjung Kidurong, JCI Damai, JCI Melacca City Entrepreneur, JCI Lintas, JCI Lutong and JCI Padawan.
Meanwhile, the chapters that supported the programme were JCI Batu Kawa and JCI Kuching.
JCI Miri president Michelle Toh, in her remarks, the success of the visits underscored the organisation’s ongoing efforts in creating a sustainable and interconnected network for the betterment of communities.
“The programme signifies JCI Miri’s commitment in forging meaningful connections between our members and the local community as we believe in the power of collaboration to drive positive change,” she added.
