S’wak shooters finish third in national junior c’ships

Sarawak Sukma shadow team delivered encouragin­g results at the Tun Hanif Trophy & 1st Sportexcel­NSC-Milo-Malaysian Junior Shooting Championsh­ips held at Subang National Shooting Range in Selangor on Feb 27-March 3.

The 23-member squad led by chief coach Ahmad Anai captured two gold, six silver and four bronze medals to finish third overall in the national junior tournament.

Mohd Haziq Fadhil Khalid Fauzan was first in the men’s individual 10m air rifle.

He then partnered Muhd Razin Nifajl Mohamad Rezza and Adrielend Alexander Roland to win the silver in the men’s team 10m air rifle.

The other gold was won by the trio of Kaira Ramadhani Azman, Nur Elisha and Fathin Nabilah Sajdin in the women’s team 50m.

The silver medals were won by Kaira (women’s individual 50m prone), Muhd Shafiq Asyraf Roslan (men’s individual 50m 3-position) Muhd Shafiq, Mohd Amirul Hakim Abdullah and Mujahid (men’s team 50m 3position) and Amirul Hakim, Abang Ikhmal Putra Zailan and Mohamad Wafiq Wildani Mohamad (men’s team 25m standard pistol).

The bronze medalists included Kaira (women’s individual 50m 3position), Kaira, Affiena Norolyn Howard Fado and Fathin (women’s team 50m 3-position), Nur Alya Batrisya Suhaimi, Nur Alya Syahirah Safuan and Leticia Chai Jia Ji (women’s team 10m air pistol).

In the Tun Hanif Trophy competitio­n it was Kaira, Nur Elisha and Fathin who won the women’s team 50m prone.

The silver medalists were Mohd Haziq, Muhd Razin, Adreilend Alexander (men’s team 10m air rifle) and Mohamad Amirul Hakim, Abg Ikhmal Putra and Mohamad Wafiq (men’s team 25m standard pistol).

Bronze medals were collected by Mohd Haziq (men’s individual 10m air rifle), Muhd Shafiq Asyraf Roslan, Muhd Amirul Bujang Syawal, Mujahid Ahmad (men’s team 50m 3-position), Muhd Shafiq (men’s individual 50m prone), Kaira Ramadani (women’s individual 50m prone) and Kaira, Affiena Norolyn and Fathin (women’s team 50m 3-position).

The teams competing in both competitio­ns were Pahang, Melaka, Perak Terengganu, Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, Sarawak, PDRM, ATM and MASUM.

The tournament served as part of the preparatio­ns by Sarawak shooters eyeing the 21st Sukma to be held in the state.

The state contingent was accompanie­d by Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n (SSC) sports developmen­t officer Christina Janggui, assistant coaches Vincent Goh and Sorea Tiror and amourer Awang Adam Awang Rabai.
