DKI Jakarta in one-two finish in doubles short oil pattern

lndonesian challenger­s fired the first salvo in the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup (SHTC) when they completed a one-two finish in the doubles over the short oil pattern at Megalanes Sarawak, Batu Kawa yesterday.

Marvin-Yeri Ramadona of DKI A felled 1,840 pins to win the first event of the tournament and siblings Paolo-Patrick M Hernandez of DKI B were second 151 further back.

Marvin rolled 223 while Ramadona shot 230 in their opening game to take a 10-pin lead over Iddin Sorkapli-Megat Zaqrul Haiqal of FAMA BC with Daniel Tan and Bong Kihow of Hero Bowling, Kuching third a further 16 pins away.

The Jakarta pair added another strong 458 in their second game but Aliff Haiqal-Muhammad Addin Sahren of Johor Boys moved up into second, just three pins adrift.

Tan and Bong added 434 but slipped down to third.

Sorkapli and Megat Zaqrul put in a respectabl­e 426 but dropped down to fourth.

DKI A downed 450 in their third game to remain in the lead. FAMA BC bounced back with 468 to regain second spot, 24 pins from the leader.

The second Jakarta pair did better with 511 to recover and move back into contention after dropping to fifth in their previous game.

But there was simply no stopping Marvin and Ramadona as they ended the four-game series with a record-breaking 935 to seal the victory with 1,840 pins.

The third position went to Iddin Sorkaoli-Megat Zaqrul Haiqal from FAMA BC who posted a score of 1,675.

Tan-Bong were the best finishers for Sarawak as they finished fourth with 1,667.

The other Sarawak team in the top 10 comprised Abang Afiq Yazid Abang Azman-Muhammad Hazim Alihhanafi­ah who ended up in sixth spot with 1,655.

Forty-two pairs competed in the doubles over the short oil pattern.

The Doubles over long oil pattern would be contested later in yesterday evening.

Competitio­n will shift to the Trios event over short and long oil patterns today over two squads for each pattern.

Four players will be in each team but only the top 3 with the highest scores will be taken into account.

The top 3 trios finishers will be declared the winners for each of the patterns contested.
