MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) remains dedicated to providing high-quality education in Sarawak, Borneo and the wider Asean region.

Curtin Malaysia’s dean of learning and teaching Prof Tang Fu Ee says being one of the five institutions of higher learning (IPTs) owner by the Sarawak government, it is committed to fostering an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and impactful learning.

“We open our doors to all ambitious Sarawakian students who aspire to pursue their dreams through higher education.

“With the support of the Sarawak government, we ensure that high-quality education is accessible to everyone without burdening their parents,” he said in his speech, read by the university’s pro vice-chancellor, president and chief executive Prof Simon Leunig, at the recent ‘Curtin Malaysia Information Session 2024’.

Tang also emphasised the university’s commitment to providing inclusive, innovative and impactful education.

“The importance of education is the key to personal and community development, opening doors to better career opportunities and laying the foundation for sustainable social and economic development.”

On the session, Tang expressed hope that it would serve as a positive step towards empowering children’s education and future, specially Form 5 students who had just taken the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

The event at the Curtin Malaysia campus here hosted 50 local community leaders, local heads of government agencies, as well as representatives of village security and development committees (JKKK) and local associations.

It was organised by Curtin Malaysia’s Department of Domestic Student Recruitment and External Engagement.

It marked the second session this year, with the first held in Bintulu in early February.
