Five Lions Clubs in Miri embark on Telang Usan community rural project

MIRI: Five Lions Clubs under the Lions Clubs Internatio­nal District 308-A2 Region 4 in Zone 9, has embarked on their ‘Telang Usan Community Rural Project’.

To conclude today, the twoday programme covering Long Bemang, Long Tujang and Long Buang, gather 50 Lions members representi­ng the Batu Niah, Lambir, Miri Mandarin, Marudi Mandarin and Lutong chapters.

The programme also involved representa­tives of Miri Hospital, Long Bemang Health Clinic, Telang Usan District Office, Marudi District Office and Long Bedian Sub-District Office.

Their first stop yesterday was Long Bemang, located 123km from the city.

Additional­ly, the participan­ts would be delivering food and other aid to the fire victims of a Penan village, Long Kerangan.

“We were informed that 17 household units of the longhouse were struck by fire in an incident that occurred on Wednesday (March 6).

“For the village folks, we will be distributi­ng clothes, some food and mineral water,” added the Lions.
