Council approves 6 sites to hold Ramadan bazaars in Sibu

-

SIBU: Six sites here have been approved by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) to hold this year’s Ramadan bazaars, says deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley.

They are Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 2, the front parking lot of Farley Supermarket, Pelita Tower of Wisma Sanyan, FamaPermai Market parking area, Taman Satria Commercial Area and the open parking space at Sibu

Resident and District offices.

Adding on, Izkandar calls upon all traders to always maintain high-level hygiene and cleanliness throughout their operations.

“Of course, proper food handling and typhoid injection as required by the Ministry of Health must be complied with,” he said in a statement.

Additionally, Izkandar said the duties of ensuring cleanliness and compliance with the set regulations also fell under the bazaar organisers’ responsibility.

During a recent briefing session with the Ramadan bazaar traders here, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee had warned them about more stringent enforcement, and that stern action would be taken against any stall operators who ignored the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness, which would include suspension of operations for two weeks.

The Nangka assemblyman had said that this year’s Ramadan bazaar at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 2 here would officially open this March 11, and it would be run by Nangka Service Centre and managed by Persatuan Peniaga-Peniaga Bergerai Sibu and Persatuan Usahawan Bersatu Sibu.

Of course, proper food handling and typhoid injection as required by the Ministry of Health must be complied with.
