KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) announced a three-year partnership to foster a more dynamic connection between academia and industry to benefit current and future UiTM students and graduates.

The collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony by Maxis chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng and UiTM Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin.

According to its press statement, the MoU focuses on several working areas; career development: Empowering UiTM students with in-demand digital skills through skill development programmes and educational outreach, knowledge sharing: Knowledge exchange and skills enhancement by Maxis guest speakers and trainers on campus, and electronic waste (eWaste): A joint programme to promote environmental sustainability through e-waste management on campus utilising Maxis’ ongoing consumer e-waste management programme.

The partnership also extends beyond academics and skills development, fostering cocurricular activities such as eSports. The cumulative MoU programmes create a platform for UiTM students to develop well-rounded skillsets that foster peer collaboration and unlock career enhancing opportunities.

“These joint initiatives underscore our commitment to providing Malaysian youths with unparalleled opportunities for learning, growth, and professional development. Combining the innovative spirit of Maxis as the leading integrated telco, with the academic excellence of UiTM, we look forward to a fruitful collaboration together,” said Goh.

“With this MoU, UiTM solidifies its dedication to providing students with a comprehensive learning experience that extends beyond the classroom.

“Through skill development programs, educational outreach, and engagement opportunities, we are shaping students to become leaders in the digital era. We are delighted to join forces with Maxis, an esteemed industry partner, to further enrich our students’ educational journey,” said Shahrin.

UiTM has been a trusted partner of Maxis since 2022 in the education space with both entities collaborating to coproduce community e-learning content for Maxis’ eKelas portal.
