Chery Malaysia unveils OMODA E5 electric vehicle
KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has introduced the OMODA E5, its inaugural electric vehicle (EV) for the country’s market.
More than just a car powered by electricity, this model embodies Chery’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, with the expectation of OMODA E5 to revolutionise the transportation norms in Malaysia.
“We are excited to introduce the OMODA E5 to the Malaysian market,” said Chery Malaysia executive vice-president Leo Chen in a statement.
“It marks a significant milestone in our journey to provide sustainable mobility solutions.We believe it will not only meet, but exceed the expectations of the Malaysian consumers, potentially setting new benchmarks for green mobility.”
Chen also announced that the OMODA E5 would be the first Chinese EV to be assembled in Malaysia.
“By localising our production, Chery aims to create more job opportunities and contribute to the local economy.
“This initiative aligns with the government’s localisation policy, and also positions Malaysia as a hub for EVs in the region,” he added.
The recent launch event hosted Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing.
Meanwhile, Chen also announced Chery Malaysia’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiative, aimed at promoting sustainability and encouraging environment-friendly practices among Chery staff, dealers and stakeholders in the country.
At the event, Chery Malaysia product director Michael Chew introduced the OMODA E5 to the audience, including members of the media.
Among the key features of this EV are ‘Intelligent Powertrain’ comprising three-in-one flatwire motor and three leading electronic control systems, offering exceptional strength and technology for an enhanced driving experience.
Other features include Wind
Resistance Coefficient; centre console storage and cooling compartment; Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance System’ (ADAS); connectivity and entertainment; interior, dimension, and space; and performance and durability.
The OMODA E5 is available in Aqua Green, Khaki White, Phantom Grey, and Dark Black.
Priced at RM146,800, the package includes a seven-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 160,000km battery warranty, and an eight-year or 160,000km drive unit warranty.
Additionally, Chery Malaysia also offers complimentary charging facilities and exclusive promotional offers for early bookings.
