MoHE enhancing student leadership through Karisma
The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) recently organised the National Student Settlement and Young Leadership Training Programme (Karisma) at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) over three days.
Held from March 8 to 10, this programme, organised for the first time by the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Higher Education Department (JPT), AKEPT, and MoHE, saw the participation of 95 student leaders, including those from the Student Representative Council (MPP) of 20 public universities (IPTA) and seven private higher education institutions (IPTS) nationwide.
Karisma, an initiative initiated by the Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, aims at further enriching the development of young leadership in higher education institutions across the country.
The programme covers various aspects, including leadership modules and national fundamentals.
The closing ceremony officiated by Zambry featured a dialogue session with the attending participants.
Various questions from student leaders covered current issues in higher education, student welfare, as well as the mission and vision of the minister and MoHE.
The Karisma platform is expected to serve as a bridge between student leaders, highlevel ministry leadership, and the country’s top leaders.
The organisers hope that the programme will help build the character and credibility of student leaders for the present and future, contributing to the sustainability of higher education institutions, MoHE and the nation.
