Over 100 in Lanang register with Padu
SIBU: More than 100 people have registered with the Central Database Hub (Padu) at Lanang Service Centre since the system’s registration was launched in January.
According to Lanang MP Alice Lau, many individuals have come to her service centre seeking assistance as they are unsure about the procedures.
“We provide our services to those who want to register withPadu at the service centre, which opens daily from 8am to 4.30pm, with no breaks,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Padu aims to be inclusive of individuals who have been fallen into a policy void, for instance, informal workers or small business owners who do not receive government assistance due to lack of documentation or lack of knowledge on the various subsidy schemes available.
The informal sector, which represents 8.6 per cent of the total workforce in 2021, is often overlooked in various government policies.
Registration for Padu ends this March 31.
Adding on, Lau said her service centre would continue to assist the people in matters related to the registration with Padu.
“We will keep helping anyone who seeks for our support to register with Padu so they can continue receiving government assistance as well as other allowances and subsidies in the future.
“At the same time, our service centre offers other support and services, such as applications for medical assistance, college entrance assistance, legal consultation, as well as completing forms from the Ministry of Welfare and handling livelihood complaints from the public.”
