TCS College signs agreement with top universities in Finland, UK
KUCHING: TCS College, a boutique college in East Malaysia, is proud to announce that it has signed an agreement with two top universities in Finland and the UK, which are renowned for delivering their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the project-based learning mode.
Upon completing their study, their Foundation students will now have the opportunity to enrol in the Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) in Finland, as well as the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Integrated Engineering at the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) in the UK with a study duration of three years and 2.5 years, respectively.
To launch this new partnership, NMITE, through TCS College, is offering two scholarships that cover the full tuition fees for their Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Integrated Engineering at their campus in the UK.
The scholarships will be awarded to top students from the B40 group who have completed the one-year Foundation programme at TCS College, which is entirely delivered in the project-based learning mode.
Similar scholarship arrangements are in the works with SeAMK; further details will be announced at a later time.
SeAMK and NMITE will mould the Foundation graduates to be competent managers and all-rounded engineers, who can effectively manage many highimpact projects by the state government plans in order to make Sarawak a developed state by 2030.
Project-based learning has proven to be the most effective method to produce graduates who are creative in problem-solving, possess critical and independent thinking, as well as leadership and team-working skills.
Finland embraced this learning method three decades ago, and its education system is now rated as one of the best in the world in producing best-in-class graduates.
Through project-based learning, TCS College aims to produce graduates who are not only competent technical-wise, but also capable in managing people and projects.
This aligns with the rapid economic growth of Sarawak, where a huge gap exists for managers, particularly those from the B40 group in rural areas, who have the potential to steer new companies to penetrate markets and grow aggressively.
TCS College delivers entrepreneurship and management programmes at the Foundation, Diploma, and Degree levels in partnership with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Since its inception in 2000, TCS College has helped the state governments of Sarawak and Sabah in reducing the poverty cycle in rural and urban households by providing quality and industry-driven tertiary education at affordable prices to students from low-income (B40) households in both states.
TCS College has always been proud over the fact it recruits students from rural areas of Sarawak and Sabah who have minimal educational requirements and still produces excellent graduates.
The passion and dedication of the academic faculty at TCS College reflects the college’s sincere efforts in creating not only job-seekers, but also job creators to address the growing number of unemployed graduates nationwide.
TCS College have produced 4,371 graduates, with 82 per cent were from the B40 group mainly in the rural parts of Sarawak and Sabah, and 66 of the graduates obtaining First-Class Honour Degrees, while 52 achieved Dean’s List.
They have continuously achieved a passing rate of 99 per cent, while their employability rate in securing jobs within six months of graduation is 93 per cent, of which 21 of them have gone on to start their own businesses.
