Semariang Muslim folks praised for holding fulfilling Ramadan activities

-

KUCHING: The Muslim constituents of Semariang are commended for holding activities that make this holy month of Ramadan more fulfilling.

In giving this praise, Samariang assemblywoman DatukSharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said she was delighted to note the community’s eager response to activities being run in connection with the fasting month, especially those intended as charity and welfare programmes

“This Ramadan, I feel everyone is excited. Mosques are filled with people attending the ‘tarawih’ (nightly Ramadan congregational prayer), and the Ramadan bazaars are also crowded with people looking for food for ‘buka puasa’ (break-of-fast).

“Many are also involved in donation and distribution of food to the needy folks.

“With the blessings abound during Ramadan, we all should take the opportunity of this season to strengthen our worship and do more charity work,” said the Deputy Minister in Premier’s Department.

She was met during the distribution of more than 400 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’, beef stew and dates to the residents of Taman Sukma, here yesterday.

The programme was jointly organised by Liansin Trading, Cats FM and the Taman Sukma village security and development committee.

Adding on, Sharifah Hasidah said such a programme is highly encouraged during Ramadan.

“We share our blessings by giving a small contribution to the residents of Taman Sukma. There are indeed many programmes like this. Just a while ago, I took part in one involving many nongovernmental organisations.

“The communities in Sarawak are indeed a compassionate lot. The wealthy and the privileged are here to help the less-fortunate ones and share Ramadan joy with them,” she said.
