Swinburne to host Open Day this Saturday

of Technology Sarawak Campus will hold its Open Day at its campus along Jalan Simpang Tiga here from 10am to 4pm this Saturday (March 23).

The event serves as an avenue for the public, particular­ly students seeking to pursue their higher education, to discover all that the university has to offer – from globally ranked courses to modern facilities, scholarshi­ps, work-integrated learning, exchange and transfer options, and vibrant student experience, among others.

Prospectiv­e students and parents visiting the Open Day will be able to connect with the university’s education counsellor­s and academic experts for personalis­ed counsellin­g.

A wide range of programmes in various fields of study are offered by the university, including business, computing, design, engineerin­g, quantity surveying, science, arts, media and education.

Students and parents will be able to find out more on internal merit scholarshi­ps offered by Swinburne Sarawak at different levels of study in addition to those offered by external providers.

“Visitors can catch exclusive talk sessions on scholarshi­ps, bursaries, study loans and financial aid delivered by representa­tives from Yayasan Sarawak and Sarawak Energy Berhad,” said the university in a statement.

There will also be insightful sharing sessions and pathway talks by the alumni of Swinburne Sarawak where students can gain better understand­ing of the university’s study options.

Another highlight of the Open Day is the opportunit­y for a guided tour around the university by the current students, to allow visitors to get the feel of a campus life.

“Besides viewing the university’s existing facilities up close and in person, students can catch a glimpse of the highly anticipate­d campus upgrades being carried out.

“These upgrades are aimed at enhancing the campus experience and providing students with a world-class teaching and learning environmen­t,” it said.

Swinburne Sarawak will be receiving on-the-spot applicatio­ns, whereby eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day.

To facilitate the applicatio­n process, prospectiv­e students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identifica­tion card or certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcript­s and certificat­es (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).

The Open Day will also feature a variety of external vendors with diverse offerings, including food and beverages, clothing, accessorie­s, artistic products and more.

Among the anticipate­d vendors are Kuching Autistic Associatio­n (KAA), Brew Coffee Bakery, Three Tea, Le Atelier, Sluvi, Eureka x Dnas, Margaret Nail Studio, Jabing Studio, EllyLoe Collection, Omok.co, Daisy Dalia and Babyygohen­na.

Food trucks are also expected to make an appearance at the event, including Vanillapon­g, King Kojack, Sushi Chef on Wheels, Swee Kang AisKacang, Kopi Hainan and d-FRentz.
