JCI all geared up for TOYM Awards 2024 in Kuala Lumpur
KUCHING: The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malaysia is gearing up to host its prestigious Malaysia Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) awards event, this Sept 21 in Kuala Lumpur.
According to Kuching South mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, the awards programme is a testament to the outstanding contributions of individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and service.
“Through their innovative initiatives and selfless actions, they have left an indelible mark on our community and beyond.
“While today’s event is about announcing the upcoming JCI TOYM Awards, it is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of recognising excellence and inspiring others to follow in the footsteps of these remarkable individuals,” he said in the press conference here yesterday.
Meanwhile in his remarks, the JCI TOYM Awards 2024 organising committee chairman Melvin Chan described the programme as ‘a beacon of hope and inspiration, illuminating the extraordinary endeavours and impacts of young individuals on their respective fields and communities’.
“By recognising these inspiring leaders, we hope to motivate all Malaysian youths to reach new heights and make meaningful contributions to society.
“Capturing the essence of the theme, ‘Roaring Youths, Pride of the Malaysian Spirit’, the awards aspire to kindle the tiger spirit within the youths, fostering resilience, diversity, and the potential for extraordinary achievements.”
The JCI unveiled 10 distinct categories meant to recognise the achievements of the honourees: ‘Business, Economic and or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment’; ‘Political, Legal and/or Government Affairs’; ‘Academic Leadership and or Accomplishment’; ‘Cultural Achievement’; ‘Moral and or Environmental Leadership’; ‘Contribution to Children, World Peace and/or Human Rights’; ‘Humanitarian and or Voluntary Leadership’; ‘Scientific and or Technological Development’; ‘Personal Improvement and/or Accomplishment’; and ‘Medical Innovation’.

A notable highlight of this year’s awards is the dedication to community welfare, as 50 per cent of the proceeds from ticket sales would be channelled to charitable causes.
