As part of the bank’s 100th anniversary celebration, this year’s programme will span across 100 distribution locations throughout Malaysia, embodying the communal spirit of this significant month.

“CIMB Group Holdings Berhad remains dedicated to aiding those in need during the Holy month of Ramadan through its Harapan Ramadan program.

In commemoration of CIMB Malaysia’s 100th anniversary, the Harapan Ramadan programme will extend all states in Malaysia, impacting various communities including the asnaf and B40 groups, heads of families, single parents, individuals with disabilities, refugees, senior citizens, and other underserved populations.

This year’s programme is carried out in collaboration with six non-governmental organisations and aims to distribute essential items such as rice, cooking oil, canned food, and other staples to alleviate financial burdens during the fasting month and upcoming festivities.

Additionally, cash allowances are provided to selected orphanages to meet their needs and enable children to prepare for the Raya celebrations.

CIMB Islamic and CIMB Foundation chief executive officer Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff in the release expressed the organisation’s delight in expanding the Harapan Ramadan programme to 100 locations nationwide, saying it aligned with the bank’s centenary celebration.

“The programme’s significance, with 650 CIMB employees volunteering their time, embodies the bank’s brand purpose of ‘Moving Forward with You’.

“We remain committed to championing initiatives that generate positive and meaningful impacts on the communities we serve. We look forward to collaborating with partners to share blessings and alleviate burdens during this Holy month,” he said.

Since its inception in 2022, the Harapan Ramadan program has successfully mobilised over RM4.4 million to support 83,000 beneficiaries from underserved communities.

Through CIMB Islamic, the group has spearheaded various initiatives for underserved communities, supporting the long-term development of underprivileged groups through programmes such as ‘Program Keusahawanan Taylor’s-CIMB Islamic’, ‘iTekad CIMB Islamic Rider Entrepreneur Programme’, ‘Melon Manis Terengganu Graduate Agropreneur Programme’, and ‘CIMB MicroBizReady’.

These initiatives aim to empower aspiring B40 entrepreneurs to improve their livelihoods and reach their full potential by providing mentorship and training to enhance their entrepreneurship skills.

Meanwhile, CIMB Foundation serves as the group’s corporate social responsibility and philanthropic arm, focusing on four impact areas encompassing education, health, and community well-being, economic empowerment, as well as climate and environment.
