OceanMight achieves One Million Safe Exposure Hours status

OceanMight Sdn Bhd (OMSB), the oil and gas unit and subsidiary of KKB Engineerin­g Berhad, recorded a significan­t milestone of One Million Safe Exposure Hours and 500 Quality No Defect Days for its Provision of Engineerin­g, Procuremen­t and Constructi­on (EPC) of Standard Wellhead Platforms for the MLNG FaS (F27, F22 and Selasih) Gas Field Developmen­t project under Shell.

A simple celebratio­n ceremony was recently held at its modern, well-equipped fabricatio­n yard located along Jalan Bako here, said a release yesterday.

“This contract comprises of the fabricatio­n of three units of Topsides and three units of Jackets’ structures. The HSE (Health, Safety and Environmen­t) Day was celebrated with senior management from Shell, Petronas, Department of Occupation­al Safety and Health (DOSH) and Sarawak Marine Department.

“DOSH awarded OceanMight a certificat­e of recognitio­n for its achievemen­t of One Million Safe Exposure Hours,” said the statement.

OMSB has been licensed by Petronas since 2013 and, over the last 10 years, has competitiv­ely tendered for and successful­ly awarded a total of 17 projects, of which 14 were completed and three are in progress.

From the end of April this year, the projects have been successful­ly and safely completed, recording a total of over 8.8 million man-hours and with zero Lost Time Injury (LTI).

“This excellent HSE track record is one of the company’s targets to maintain in the years to come and the safety of its personnel is paramount to the company.

“This impressive achievemen­t became a reality as a result of OceanMight’s ongoing commitment to safety and quality through its stringent safety and progressiv­e quality procedures, systems and processes, both internally and externally.

“The One Million Safe Exposure Hours record reflects OceanMight’s culture to creating a safe workplace at all times by setting high HSE standards and ensuring operationa­l excellence,” said the statement.

“OceanMight does not compromise on safety and quality, and it governs every aspect of how we conduct our business.

“We are very proud of our impressive achievemen­t and extend our congratula­tions to OMSB’s committed team and workforce of some 1,100 personnel for making this new milestone possible,” said OMSB director and KKB Engineerin­g Berhad managing director Kho Pok Tong in the release.

The day’s celebratio­n culminated in a ceremony of appreciati­on and awarding of gifts to staff for ‘Best HSE Practices’ and ‘Best Quality Work’.
