ACTOR-SINGER Datuk AC Mizal is set to become an alien in Cartoon Network’s CGI animated television movie, Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens.

Featured as the voice of a mystery alien in the Bahasa Malaysia version of the movie, AC is keeping Ben 10 fans guessing as to the character he’s playing.

“This Ben 10 movie is awesome and I had so much fun stepping into the studio to voice my role,” said AC during an interview with The Star last week.

“Alien hero adventures, a riveting story jam-packed with action in full CG glory and a healthy dose of laughter – all combine in Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens for the ultimate Ben 10 viewing experience.

“In the Bahasa Malaysia version of the movie, I am the voice of a mystery alien and while I can’t reveal too much of the story, Ben 10 fans can expect lots of unexpected twists and turns.

“Seriously, don’t miss it! One thing I can say is the character which I voice is a mature character and I believe it was created to tell what happened to Ben 10 and his history with aliens,” revealed AC.

“This is my first time working for Cartoon Network. Dubbing for animations is a bit hard as you have to express a variety of emotions and feelings through your voice. And trust me, my character is involved in a lot of shouting and fighting scenes,” said AC who currently hosts RM1,000,000 Money Drop on Astro Ria.

AC was given four days to dub the dialogue in a studio in the Klang Valley but he managed to complete it within a day, talk about being a pro.

“I guess I’m used to a recording studio being a singer. And I did a Malay dubbing for animation movie Robot (2005) for Robin Williams’ Fender character.

“The great thing about Ben 10 is, my voice sounded very similar to the original actor. But it didn’t mean that the dubbing process was easier,” said AC, 40, who is the only big name involved in the dubbing of Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens.

And AC has more reason to be excited. His eight-year-old son Muhammad Reeve Damien is a Ben 10 fan.

“My son is a big fan of Ben 10 and I guess I learned a lot from him.

“When I first heard about the offer from Cartoon Network, I was thinking that Ben 10 has grown up, you know, since I’m turning 40 this year,” said AC.

“So excitedly I told my son about it. Now I have to think about breaking it to him gently that I’m not playing Ben 10, but one of the aliens,” said the devoted father of two who is also signed up exclusively to Astro as their artiste.

Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens turns the clock back to 10-year-old Ben Tennyson, struggling with teachers, detention, school bullies and the dreadful fate of missing out on his weekend fishing trip with Grandpa Max, when grounded by his parents.

Desperate times call for desperate measures as Ben jumps at the chance to escape from it all at the Total Alien Immersion training programme on the far side of the galaxy.

Little does Ben realise the irreversible consequences of the programme which sends him crashing back to Earth stuck in his alien forms battling an all-new evil alien, Mechamorph Warrior.

Ben 10’ s enduring popularity with kids is undeniable and this movie will undoubtedly bring the successful franchise to an exciting new level. n Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens premieres on Cartoon Network (Astro Ch 616) on March 11 at 9am.
