EXTRACURRICULAR activities can generate moral values and exposure to the outside world for students. Be it inter-varsity matches or study trips overseas, involvement from students can provide unconventional learning avenues that benefit the individual.

For students of School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts (SCA), College PTPL Shah Alam, the programme that gives international exposure has given them valuable insight to the world.

Recently, 20 students from the Hotel & Catering Operation programme and one lecturer organised a programme called “Bandung Culinary Tour” to study closely the region’s gastronomic offerings as well as getting to know the Indonesian community.

Students were able to utilise creative methods of learning on the tour.

Among the activities involved in the fourday trip were a visit to the NHI National Hotel International, a visit to Tangkuban boat, Home Mode, Ciwalk, leisure activities to Sari Ater, and a visit to Kartika Sari, one of the famous factories that produces and sells cakes and brownies.

The purpose of the visit was to gain exposure to the hospitality industry.

The activity was also organised to strengthen relations between students and lecturers in teamwork. The experience also helped to prepare students for the hospitality industry in the future.
