APU was announced as among the Highest Rated Universities in Malaysia, being rated at Tier 5 (excellent) under the SETARA 2011 Ratings by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
It has also garnered achievements in competitions such as the 1Malaysia Innovation Tournament (1MIT), Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) Malaysia (Multimedia Development Corporation) and the Asia Student. NET Awards (Microsoft Inc)

APU has developed and delivered academic programmes through unique and well-established international partnerships, such as those with Staffordshire University, the United Kingdom.
Learning for employability
Employers look for qualified people who have the technical skills and the ability to communicate, work in teams and the ability to learn, develop and adapt. Exposure to the real world enables graduates to apply knowledge and skills immediately upon employment. In the course of their study at APU, students undertake projects that mirror actual projects carried out in the industry.
Technology-enabled learning environment
APU offers constant structured use of technology as a learning and management tool that improves a student’s ability to handle real-life work and career expectations.
APU’s student-centric applications such as the Webspace portal, Online Courseware Community, Student Project Management System (PAGOL) and other online feedback systems facilitate communication and collaboration as well as access to course materials, assessments, projects and other information.
APU has received various research and development grants from the Malaysian Government. The institution had developed innovative projects such as the Moodle ERP, a suite of plug-ins that extends open source education system Moodle, iShield, iSMART and C.A.R.P.E.T.
The outputs from these innovations are being adopted by several countries, including the UK, the United States, Thailand, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
The APIIT Education Group received the Prime Minister’s Award for Export Excellence (Services) and Industry Excellence in 2010.
