Growing with KYUEM

-

WITH higher demands for academic achievements, students are required to have soft skills to ensure their success.

Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) is aware of that.

Students are encouraged to develop their soft skills. They are not only taught to be responsible for their own actions, but are also given the chance to lead.

“We are one of the few educational institutions which has been granted the Cambridge International Fellowship status,” says KYUEM headmaster Donald Wilkinson.

The average grade of students at this campus is high. KYUEM’s July 2010 group of students have recorded the best A-Level results in the college’s history.

The broad statistics are outstanding:

> 87.4% of grades gained were at A*-B

> 40.1% of grades gained were at A*

> 70.1% of grades gained were at A* or A

> 25.2% of these students gained at least four A grades at A-Levels

> 59.3% of these students gained at least three A grades at A-Levels

Seven students from the last graduating batch achieved the rank of “Top in the World” and “Top in Malaysia” from the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

KYUEM graduates have been accepted in first-rate universities around the world. Last year, five students enrolled in Cambridge University. Each year, about 80% of KYUEM students receive the highest commendations in great universities in England, Australia and the United States.

These results have become a phenomenon ever since KYUEM was established in 1998. After all, students are selected not only by means of their academic capabilities, but also by their commitment and achievements in other activities.

They are also given guidance on university applications, making them well prepared for the tight competition for places in the world’s top universities.

The fact is KYUEM students are used to being trained for that task by way of university placement counselling as well as extensive information given to them.

This institution also educates its students through various extracur- ricular activities, such as sports, theatre and debate.

All this helps the students develop their interest in a greater range.

Located in Lembah Beringin, approximately 70km north of Kuala Lumpur, this educational institution boasts a beautiful environment. The countryside atmosphere it offers is ideal for the growth of pre-university students’ academic capabilities.

To fulfil the need for first-class educators, KYUEM has gathered a teaching staff consisting of people with high academic capacity, from those with bachelor’s degrees to doctorates.

These teachers have both the commitment and the unified will to make sure their students succeed.

“We have experienced teachers, both locals and expatriates,” says KYUEM chief executive officer Nor Rubaiha Mohamed Nor.

Aside from teaching the values of tolerance, KYUEM is also committed to producing great leaders who would play major roles both in their country and on the world stage. Students are also taught to honour traditions and Asian ideals, the people around them and their religions.

In so many ways, KYUEM is like a microcosm of Malaysia. The mixed demography of the students reflects that of the nation’s population. Of course, this also makes KYUEM the ideal place for international students.

KYUEM is now open to international students and welcomes talented students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds to apply for the July intake.
