Quality programme
FAJAR International College (FIC) was formally known as Kolej Fajar. To date, FIC’s Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (DIPOSH) programme is the first and only diploma in Sarawak approved by the Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH).
This programme is also approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
DIPOSH is a two-anda-half-year programme, with a one-year intensive programme running concurrently.
Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health programme
FIC’s Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health programme has two added values — it is accredited by IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety & Health), UK, that recognises course qualifications and safety practitioners worldwide.
Secondly, FIC students have direct entry into the final-year degree programme in Occupational Safety & Health with University of Greenwich (UOG), UK and Middlesex University, UK.
FIC has a proven track record in successfully running the OSH diploma.
Having started in 2005, this programme has become one of its specialised programmes as its lecturers comprise industry experts who are passionate in sharing their knowledge and experience.
Educational and exposure site visits are often arranged. All students must fulfil a minimum of two months’ practical training with local corporations in this industry and arranged by the college.
Many graduates have been absorbed into these partner companies after their practical period while some are employed in Brunei and other local companies.
To register for the DIPOSH, a student will need three SPM credits and a pass in Bahasa Malaysia. Bumiputra students with a minimum of five SPM credits including Mathematics and a pass in English are also eligible for a full education loan from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).
FIC is open to prospective students for the Jan 2014 intake for all programmes.
