HAVE you been impressed by some of the stunts that you have seen in the movies? Did you always wonder how it would be to see them live?

Do you recall the stunts in the blockbusters, Mission Impossible 2 and the James Bond thriller Quantum Of Solace? Well, come Dec 19, you will see the work of waterbased stunt specialists H2O Events who had worked with the stunt directors of both these movies.

And the place you will get to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime event is Kuah, Langkawi!

That’s not all. The renowned laser specialist Oracle Attractions, which put together the laser show at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, has also been roped in for a “light fantastic” show.

The organisers say that they pulled no punches for the Langkawi Naturally Magikal, Kedah 2013 that will run until Jan 5 next year.

“We have decided that this event should be on the world tourism map. And to do that, we had to bring together the finest talents in the world,” adds Naturally Magical Sdn Bhd CEO Inba Shekaran.

They are working together with Malaysia-based Big Think Attractions, whose CEO/managing director Sam Lee notes that these two outfits are among the best at what they do.

The production will showcase the works of award-winning laser artist Glenn Turner (Oracle Attractions) and water-show director Jack Ellison (H20 Events).

The night show utilises the lat- est special effects technology to manage and orchestrate the main components of the show – lasers, water-jet fountains, water-skiing and fireworks display.

The nightly spectacle will feature special effects using eight highpower lasers, six water-jet fountains and two vertical jet fountains (almost 40m high), creating a stunning 183m wide display on Pantai Lagenda beach.

The show will feature specially created components, including the extensive use of wireless technology for lasers, water-jet fountains, sound and lighting hardware – all housed on a 67m barge anchored 150m from shore and controlled wirelessly from the beach.

“It is challenging for the show producers that the stage is on open water, especially since they have to deal with the elements – the wind and tide.

“It’s also exciting as the open water allows us to manage and perform shows across the Pantai Lagenda shorefront and fill it with different layers of special effects and high-impact performances,” points out Inba.

It certainly looks like a spectacular start to the treats awaiting tourists for Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
