Fit for business, fit for life

-

aTC’S School of Business and Management’s growth in the last two decades is credited to its strong commitment to academic excellence.

The school’s core theme is developing the thinking professional, fit for business and fit for life.

It ensures that students receive training in all of the professional skills and competencies necessary to succeed in their chosen fields.

But it doesn’t stop there. The incorporation of an internship programme which is compulsory for all business students leads to students having the opportunity to apply their learning in challenging real world business environments, enhancing the learning acquired in the lecture room, and exposing students to situations in which they must think on their feet and prove their abilities.

The School of Business and Management lecturing staff is made up of experienced, dedicated academic specialists, all of whom have strong links to industry and to the professions, either through their industrial careers or research.

This is important in many ways, the most significant being their ability to relate the academic teaching material to current business practice and to bring this across to their students in ways that are meaningful and thought-provoking.

The collaboration with St Mary’s University College (UK) to conduct their BA Management Studies degree programme is another milestone for ATC’s School of Business and Management.

St Mary UC was founded in 1850 to meet ment or appropriate postgraduate study.

St Mary’s University College has moved up three places in the newly published “Sunday Times University Guide League Table” since 2011 and is ahead of fellow London provid- ers Greenwich, Westminster, Middlesex, East London, South Bank, West London and London Metropolitan.

In a special league table of 20 universities for Teaching Excellence compiled on the basis of the most recent National Student Satisfaction Survey, St Mary’s is among the likes of Cambridge, Oxford and Surrey, and is ahead of St Andrews and Bath.

ATC also offers Certificate in Business Studies, Diploma in Management and Diploma in Marketing programmes for SPM school-leavers as a pathway to their degree studies (either in Year 1 or 2).

While pursuing their pre-tertiary studies, students are also required to go through an internship programme at established entities to enable them to apply the theoretical knowledge into practicality.

This will eventually prepare students to enter the competitive employment world with more confidence.
