Delicious meal in a cosy setting
WHILE bidding a fond farewell to 2013, celebrate the upcoming 2014 in panache. And what better way to do that than to spend the holiday season with your loved ones at a quiet and cosy corner in Chef & Brew at Medan Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.
This year, Chef & Brew has come up with an interesting spread for the New Year’s Eve celebration. The tantalising fusion of seafood and poultry promises to tease your taste buds.
Start off with the Lobster Claw on a bed of Potato Salad. This is served with Mirtilli Rossi sauce (Italian for cranberry) at the side. This is topped with alfalfa to add freshness and a delicate texture to the dish.
This will be followed by Cream of Asparagus with Shrimps. Rich and indulgent, this soup brings to mind the warmth that is fostered during cold winter months in the temperate climes. The shrimps add a bit of bite to the soup.
The main is a platter of Baked Deep Sea Prawns served with Creamy Garlic and either a choice of Chicken Roulade or Grilled Fish Fillet. It is completed with a side of Shimeji Mushroom sauce and Baked Potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
The chicken roulade is grilled and is aromatically tender. The fish is a dory which is a fine complement in terms of flavour and texture to the overall dish.
This meal is completed with a Cherry Torte Au Chocolate, a rich dark chocolate torte, which secrets a preserved cherry in its heart.
Reminiscent of the 1970s favourite, the Black Forest Gateaux, this torte is topped with a tart-flavoured gooseberry which gives this dish a floral look. Wash it down with either brewed tea or coffee.
As we are still in the holiday season, Chef & Brew’s New Year’s Eve menu retains a bit of that cheerful mood, with its predominant colours of grilled reds and refreshing greens.
These are cheerfully distributed in the red lobster claw contrasted by the alfalfa and the Cream of Asparagus topped with the redness of grilled shrimps.
The set is priced at RM69.90++ and RM79.90++ with the addition of a glass of red or white wine.
