De­li­cious meal in a cosy set­ting

WHILE bid­ding a fond farewell to 2013, cel­e­brate the up­com­ing 2014 in panache. And what bet­ter way to do that than to spend the hol­i­day sea­son with your loved ones at a quiet and cosy cor­ner in Chef & Brew at Medan Da­mansara, Kuala Lumpur.

Tan­ta­lis­ing spread

This year, Chef & Brew has come up with an in­ter­est­ing spread for the New Year’s Eve celebration. The tan­ta­lis­ing fu­sion of seafood and poul­try prom­ises to tease your taste buds.

Start off with the Lob­ster Claw on a bed of Po­tato Salad. This is served with Mir­tilli Rossi sauce (Ital­ian for cran­berry) at the side. This is topped with al­falfa to add fresh­ness and a del­i­cate tex­ture to the dish.

This will be fol­lowed by Cream of As­para­gus with Shrimps. Rich and in­dul­gent, this soup brings to mind the warmth that is fos­tered dur­ing cold win­ter months in the tem­per­ate climes. The shrimps add a bit of bite to the soup.

The main is a plat­ter of Baked Deep Sea Prawns served with Creamy Gar­lic and ei­ther a choice of Chicken Roulade or Grilled Fish Fil­let. It is com­pleted with a side of Shimeji Mush­room sauce and Baked Pota­toes and sea­sonal veg­eta­bles.

The chicken roulade is grilled and is aro­mat­i­cally ten­der. The fish is a dory which is a fine com­ple­ment in terms of flavour and tex­ture to the over­all dish.

This meal is com­pleted with a Cherry Torte Au Choco­late, a rich dark choco­late torte, which se­crets a pre­served cherry in its heart.

Rem­i­nis­cent of the 1970s favourite, the Black For­est Gateaux, this torte is topped with a tart-flavoured goose­berry which gives this dish a flo­ral look. Wash it down with ei­ther brewed tea or cof­fee.

As we are still in the hol­i­day sea­son, Chef & Brew’s New Year’s Eve menu re­tains a bit of that cheer­ful mood, with its pre­dom­i­nant colours of grilled reds and re­fresh­ing greens.

Th­ese are cheer­fully dis­trib­uted in the red lob­ster claw con­trasted by the al­falfa and the Cream of As­para­gus topped with the red­ness of grilled shrimps.

The set is priced at RM69.90++ and RM79.90++ with the ad­di­tion of a glass of red or white wine.
