Last year was a special year as the institution celebrated its upgrading from a college to university college.
This upgrading enables it to offer Bachelor Degree programmes, expanding its role in developing human capital for the country and moving it towards becoming a high income nation.
TAR University College emphasises the transfer of the latest industry knowledge to the classroom through close collaboration with industry leaders.
It prepares students with the necessary skills to meet the needs of the market.
The undergraduate degree programmes offered at TAR University College continue to be industry-driven and is of high academic standards to preserve the quality of the programmes.
The institution has the facilities and teaching capability to conduct the Bachelor Degree programmes of a higher level compared to the Advanced Diploma. Due to that, Advanced Diploma programmes will be phased out.
SPM holders may progress to Bachelor Degree programmes via the university college’s Foundation or Diploma programmes.
STPM, A-Levels, UEC or equivalent holders are eligible to proceed directly to Year One, subject to meeting the general entry requirements.
The Bachelor Degree programmes are offered by four faculties:
> Faculty of Applied Sciences and Computing
> Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business
> Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment
> Faculty of Social Science, Arts and Humanities
This covers Accounting, Business, Corporate Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Built Environment, Microelectronics, Computer Science, ICT, Applied Sciences, Creative Arts, Hospitality Management, Mass Communication and Social Science.
Since 1969, TAR University College has garnered a list of institutional awards and accolades from industry leaders and governmental organisations.
Some of these include the Industry Centre of Excellence by the Ministry of Education, recognition as the ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner in Malaysia, and the only institution in the world approved by ACCA to run the Internally Assessed ACCA Fundamentals (Skills Module) programme for all the nine ACCA Fundamentals papers.
The Bachelor Degree programmes are affordably offered in the range of RM24,100 to RM26,700 for a three-year Bachelor Degree programme and RM29,100 to RM32,800 for a four-year programme.
To allow greater access to quality education, TAR University College also offers various financial aids to deserving students.
Since 2007, the TAR University College Merit Scholarship has benefited close to 15,000 students. As of last year, 3,049 students received the merit scholarship amounting to RM13mil.
