AnSon Kow, who has been in the Chinese radio industry for over seven years before taking a five-month break, returns to 988, joining Chan Fong and Sam on Morning Up.

“I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to co-host Morning Up with Chan Fong and Sam. They have years of experience and flair in approaching the breakfast show topics, which I can learn from. I am glad to take up this challenge,” says Kow.

He was discovered by 988 in a radio contest to mentor young radio announcers, back in 2007. Although he was new to the industry, Kow was given the opportunity to host various programmes.

“He has the experience, exposure and talent that would appeal to our listeners and 988 is glad that most of our listeners are thrilled to see his return,” says 988 senior programme director Lim Tock Peng.

Kow took a short break from radio to do a language course in Spain in 2013. However, he was still very much connected to the industry through social media.

“Passion is the reason that brought me back to 988. I have always been passionate about radio. In fact, during my stay in Spain, I continued listening to 988 online. I have never been disconnected from the industry,” says Kow.

Kow will replace Athena, who co-hosted Morning Up. with Chan Fong and Sam for three years. now, Athena co-hosts Music Gets Crazy with Hau Min on weekdays from 12.30pm to 4pm.

“Hosting Music Gets Crazy is indeed a challenge. I have sort of become familiar with heavy topics after hosting Morning Up. now, I will need to adapt to the music scene on Music Gets Crazy,” says Athena.

Listeners can tune in to Kow on Morning Up starting today from 6am to 10am.
