Dare to be different

-

rOBERT Fitz, author of Path of Least Resistance, once said, “If you limit your choice only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want and all that is left is a compromise.”

KBU International College’s GCE A-Level student Chan Kar Ying is an example of how making difficult choices can turn your life around.

“Previously, I was a science stream student. I had no experience at all in the subject of accounting. I was scared to opt for it in the A-Levels, but everything turned out well,” said Chan, who received the high achiever award for the accounting subject in the GCE A-Level examination recently.

Chan commended the lecturers who were there throughout her one and half years in the programme.

“I had to pay extra attention in college as I was not that familiar with the subjects. Our dedicated lecturers were always there when I needed the additional help in my studies,” she said.

She talked highly of the study environment and small class size, which gives leeway for personal attention during teaching and learning process.

“I believe that the GCE A-Level programme will be a strong foundation in my pursuit for a degree in Accounting and Finance,” said the merit scholarship holder.

Another student, Chan Yi Hui, concurred with Kar Ying. “KBU’s A-Levels programme is comprehensive and will be a strong base when you further your studies. For those who are looking for a foundation programme, go ahead and choose KBU.”

He added that students are equipped with reasoning and thinking ability throughout their course in KBU. The straight-A student is now continuing his studies in Actuarial Science in a local private institution.

The Matriculation Centre head, Jenny Wong Sook Khuan, said KBU has a good track record of producing quality A-Level students.

“Those who are interested should take this golden opportunity and enrol with us,” she added.

Awarded by the Cambridge International Examinations, the GCE A-Level programme allows students to take the entire A-Level papers in one sitting or follow a staged assessment route. Students are permitted to repeat the level to ensure that the best grades are used as the final results.

Students can also pick and choose from a wide range of degree courses offered by KBU International College or other institutions.

Students who are interested to apply should possess at least five relevant credits in the SPM or GCE O-Level inclusive of English language or equivalent qualifications.
