BMW 1, 2 and go!
BMW Group Malaysia has updated the 1 and 2 Series with the locally assembled 120i M Sport and the seven- seater 220i Gran Tourer.
The agile 120i M Sport retains the hatchback proportions of the previous model but gets new face with distinctive LED head and daytime running lights.
Rear LED taillights come with the signature BMW L- shaped design for a sporty look.
The familiar kidney grille elements are wider now and placed closer to the narrower headlights for a more dynamic appearance.
The M Sport package is standard for the 120i and this includes the M Aerodynamic Kit, M Leather Steering Wheel and 18- inch M Sport alloy wheels with M Sport Suspension.
Inside, a large 8- inch free- standing monitor along with Alcantara, cloth seats and upholstery accentuate the car’s aggressive nature.
Powering the 120i is a 1.6- litre TwinPower Turbo engine that delivers 177bhp and 250Nm of torque mated to a eight- speed automatic transmission.
The car can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 222kph. Average fuel consumption rated at 5.9 l/ 100km.
Meanwhile, the 220i Gran Tourer promises a spirited driving performance despite being designed as a multi- purpose vehicle ( MPV).
Featuring a spacious interior for a compact MPV, the front wheel- drive 220i Gran Tourer has space for three universal child seats at the second seat row and two at the third row.
It has an eight- speed automatic transmission coupled to a 2.0- litre four- cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo technology that delivers 192hp and 280Nm of torque.
This enables the 220i Gran Tourer to do the 0- 100kph dash in 7.7 seconds.
The MPV also gets LED headlights and Performance Control, a system that ensures better agility and directional stability by controlling engine output and performing specific braking interventions on the front wheels.
Both vehicles also come with BMW Apps to provide driver assistance systems and mobility services.
The estimated retail prices ( on the road, without insurance with BMW Malaysia’s latest five- years unlimited mileage warranty and free scheduled service programme) for the 120i M Sport and 220i Gran Tourer are RM219,800 and RM279,800 respectively.
Unveiled at the Cooler Lumpur Festival in Publika, Kuala Lumpur today, BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO Alan Harris also launched the company’s second BMW Safety 360 º programme.
