Dad’s the best

- – Compiled by Sheela Chandran

WHEN it comes to famous quotes on fathers, actor Beau Bridges says: “My father was my teacher. But most importantly, he was a great dad.”

Award- winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow shares: “My father, he was like the rock, the guy you went to with every problem.”

Fathers have a special place in their children’s hearts. Dads have a significant impact on the growth and emotional development of children.

When you’re feeling down, Daddy is always around to cheer you up. And when you need a ride, you can always turn to Dad to drive you anywhere – be it tuition classes, swimming lessons or the cake shop.

Ask Dad anything and he’ll oblige. That’s Dad for you; the person who can be counted on to be there for you through thick and thin.

To many of our Starchild readers, their dads are the best in the world. In conjunction with Father’s Day this Sunday, let’s see what readers wrote on My Dad Rocks.

Eunice Lee Si Qi, eight, writes: “My dad loves me very much. Every day, he sends me to school. He often takes me out for dinner. He loves to watch movies during his free time. His favourite food is nasi lemak. He is a good and kind man.”

Danielle Ling Xi Yuan, seven,

says: “My daddy is a loving father. He always cooks my favourite dish, bow tie pasta. Every Saturday, Daddy, Mummy and I go hiking at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. He always plans exciting holidays for us. He loves to spend quality time with us. My daddy is the best.”

“I love my dad. He is loving and fun to be with. He loves to take us on holidays either in Malaysia or abroad. Daddy loves beaches, shopping and trying new food. Daddy hates it when I’m naughty and disobedient. My daddy is really one cool guy,” writes Sarah

Celina, six.

Julia Tan Li Ying, eight, writes: “My dad is always busy with work, but he will still find time to help out with household chores, tell us stories, cook and take care of us. He is a superdad and I love him so much.” Younger sibling Jodie Tan Li

Juen, six, says: “Occasionally, my dad is the chef at home. He dishes out fantastic food for us. The fish that he cooks is very tasty and appetizing, be it pan- fried, baked, poached or steamed.”

“I like to go to the park with my father. We play catch- me- if- youcan where my father pretends to be the thief and I pretend to be the police. I love being with my father,” writes Chia Yan Ling, seven.
