TOMORROW TO SUNDAY: The Malaysian Philharmon­ic Orchestra will present great masterpiec­es in concerts tomorrow and on Saturday, and a trumpet recital on Sunday.

Under the baton of Japanese conductor Kazuki Yamada, the MPO will enthrall its audience with Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 In A, and Zemlinsky’s Die Seejungfra­u ( The Mermaid) that was based by Han Christian Andersen’s fairytale The Little Mermaid.

For Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto In E flat, the MPO will collaborat­e with renowned trumpeter Pacho Flores. On Sunday, he will give an eclectic recital, embracing music by 10 composers from five countries.

SATURDAY: A sight for sore eyes – that’s The Sam Willows Band, a quartet from Singapore which boasts all the trappings of intricate pop music. The band, formed in 2012, is made up of siblings Narelle and Benjamin Kheng, and their buddies Sandra Riley Tang and Jonathan Chua.

Instant success is a rarity, but the band raced off the blocks with its eponymous debut EP the year it was formed, and released a long player last year, Take Heart.

MARCH 18: It’s a hat trick with house sounds as the third instalment of It’s All About Music kicks in, this time around, featuring Chicago House legend Marshall Jefferson. As one of the founding fathers of the genre, Jefferson will bring his expertise to a one- night affair that promises finger- snapping and head- bopping ... and plenty of dancing. REGISTER BY NOON TOMORROW: On Saturday, the Penang Heritage Trust is conducting a site visit to the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Establishe­d in June 1903, the PCCC was the first Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Malaya and one of the pioneer trade organisati­ons in this region at the turn of the 20th century. The President of the Penang Heritage Trust, Lim Gaik Siang, who is well versed with its history and architectu­re, will give a talk and share some early photos of this establishm­ent. This is a rare opportunit­y as PCCC opens its doors to PHT; it is closed to the public on other days.

There will be a live “slave” auction of people with special skills, like Powerlifti­ng Champion Luke Lango, and Executive Pastry Chef Paul Jardin, who has graced Michelin Star restaurant­s worldwide. Lango will provide personal training sessions and Jardin, exclusive culinary lessons, to the winning bidder.
