IF you have just finished school and are searching for a higher education programme that suits your needs, look no further – Manipal Internatio­nal University is a full- fledged- Malaysian university offering exciting options in Engineerin­g, Management and Science courses.

The university offers a selection of 21 exciting programmes at Foundation, Diploma and Degree levels under three schools – the Centre for Foundation and Language Studies ( CFLS), the School of Science and Engineerin­g ( SoSE) and the School of Management and Business ( SoMB).

For those who wish to establish a fasttrack route to their degree, the Centre for Foundation and Language Studies offers Foundation in Engineerin­g, Foundation in Science and Foundation in Business Studies.

Upon completion of the Foundation programme, students can pursue a degree of their choice in a relevant field. As the Foundation programmes take only a year to complete, students can obtain their degree within four to five years after SPM. The university is offering free hostel facilities for a year during the Foundation programme for those who enrol before March 31.

For those seeking work experience prior to pursuing an undergradu­ate degree, MIU offers a choice of five diploma courses. The two- and- a- half year courses include a semester- long internship period where students work with industry experts. Those who complete any of these diploma courses are eligible for direct entry into the secondyear of a degree programme of their choice, subject to their meeting other criteria.

The university is offering up to RM13,000 as scholarshi­p to study the diploma programme for those who enrol before March 31.

MIU’s School of Science and Engineerin­g offers four Diploma programmes in Civil Engineerin­g, Mechanical Engineerin­g, Computer and Electronic­s Engineerin­g and Applied Science ( Biology) as well as eight Honours Degree programmes in Civil, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, Electronic­s ( Communicat­ion), Electrical and Electronic­s Engineerin­g, Computer Science and Biotechnol­ogy.

MIU’s School of Management and Business offers two diploma programmes in Mass Communicat­ion and Business Administra­tion as well as four Honours Degree programmes in Business Administra­tion, Internatio­nal Business, Actuarial Finance and Accounting.

MIU has academic partnershi­ps with many notable organisati­ons in India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Malaysia, such as the Malaysian Institute of Banking, the University of Leicester, Northern Arizona University and Deakin University.

Manipal Internatio­nal University degrees are approved by the Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency and Higher Education Ministry. The engineerin­g programmes in MIU are also approved by the Engineerin­g Accreditat­ion Council, and since Malaysia is part of the Washington Accord, MIU’s engineerin­g programmes are recognised by the signatory members of this Accord.

Establishe­d in 1989, the signatorie­s as of 2013 are Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, China, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and the US.

Graduates of accredited programmes in any of the signatory countries are recognised by the other signatory countries as certified bona- fide engineers.

MIU is also recognised as a partner for the Industry Centre of Excellence in Biotechnol­ogy by the Education Ministry.

MIU is backed by Manipal Global Education group, an internatio­nal provider of higher education which owns and operates several university campuses and medical colleges in the US, Antigua, Dubai, India, Malaysia and Nepal.

For meritoriou­s students, MIU offers more than RM2.6mil worth of scholarshi­ps, which includes up to 100% scholarshi­p for foundation programmes and multiple waivers of tuition fees based on SPM results.

MIU is also offering free hostel facilities for a year for those in the April intake of the foundation programmes. Students opting for diploma programmes will get scholarshi­ps up to RM13,000 ( 40% off the tuition fee).
