IF you have just fin­ished school and are search­ing for a higher education pro­gramme that suits your needs, look no fur­ther – Ma­ni­pal In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity is a full- fledged- Malaysian univer­sity of­fer­ing ex­cit­ing op­tions in En­gi­neer­ing, Man­age­ment and Sci­ence cour­ses.

The univer­sity of­fers a se­lec­tion of 21 ex­cit­ing pro­grammes at Foun­da­tion, Diploma and De­gree lev­els un­der three schools – the Cen­tre for Foun­da­tion and Lan­guage Stud­ies ( CFLS), the School of Sci­ence and En­gi­neer­ing ( SoSE) and the School of Man­age­ment and Busi­ness ( SoMB).

For those who wish to es­tab­lish a fast­track route to their de­gree, the Cen­tre for Foun­da­tion and Lan­guage Stud­ies of­fers Foun­da­tion in En­gi­neer­ing, Foun­da­tion in Sci­ence and Foun­da­tion in Busi­ness Stud­ies.

Upon com­ple­tion of the Foun­da­tion pro­gramme, stu­dents can pur­sue a de­gree of their choice in a rel­e­vant field. As the Foun­da­tion pro­grammes take only a year to com­plete, stu­dents can ob­tain their de­gree within four to five years af­ter SPM. The univer­sity is of­fer­ing free hos­tel fa­cil­i­ties for a year dur­ing the Foun­da­tion pro­gramme for those who en­rol be­fore March 31.

For those seek­ing work ex­pe­ri­ence prior to pur­su­ing an un­der­grad­u­ate de­gree, MIU of­fers a choice of five diploma cour­ses. The two- and- a- half year cour­ses in­clude a se­mes­ter- long in­tern­ship pe­riod where stu­dents work with in­dus­try ex­perts. Those who com­plete any of th­ese diploma cour­ses are el­i­gi­ble for di­rect en­try into the sec­ondyear of a de­gree pro­gramme of their choice, sub­ject to their meet­ing other cri­te­ria.

The univer­sity is of­fer­ing up to RM13,000 as schol­ar­ship to study the diploma pro­gramme for those who en­rol be­fore March 31.

MIU’s School of Sci­ence and En­gi­neer­ing of­fers four Diploma pro­grammes in Civil En­gi­neer­ing, Me­chan­i­cal En­gi­neer­ing, Com­puter and Elec­tron­ics En­gi­neer­ing and Ap­plied Sci­ence ( Bi­ol­ogy) as well as eight Hon­ours De­gree pro­grammes in Civil, Me­chan­i­cal, Com­puter, Chem­i­cal, Elec­tron­ics ( Com­mu­ni­ca­tion), Elec­tri­cal and Elec­tron­ics En­gi­neer­ing, Com­puter Sci­ence and Biotech­nol­ogy.

MIU’s School of Man­age­ment and Busi­ness of­fers two diploma pro­grammes in Mass Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion as well as four Hon­ours De­gree pro­grammes in Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion, In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness, Ac­tu­ar­ial Fi­nance and Ac­count­ing.

MIU has aca­demic part­ner­ships with many no­table or­gan­i­sa­tions in In­dia, the United States, the United King­dom, Aus­tralia and Malaysia, such as the Malaysian In­sti­tute of Bank­ing, the Univer­sity of Le­ices­ter, North­ern Ari­zona Univer­sity and Deakin Univer­sity.

Ma­ni­pal In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity de­grees are ap­proved by the Malaysian Qual­i­fi­ca­tions Agency and Higher Education Min­istry. The en­gi­neer­ing pro­grammes in MIU are also ap­proved by the En­gi­neer­ing Ac­cred­i­ta­tion Coun­cil, and since Malaysia is part of the Wash­ing­ton Ac­cord, MIU’s en­gi­neer­ing pro­grammes are recog­nised by the sig­na­tory mem­bers of this Ac­cord.

Es­tab­lished in 1989, the sig­na­to­ries as of 2013 are Aus­tralia, Canada, Chi­nese Taipei, China, Ire­land, Ja­pan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Rus­sia, Sin­ga­pore, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and the US.

Grad­u­ates of ac­cred­ited pro­grammes in any of the sig­na­tory coun­tries are recog­nised by the other sig­na­tory coun­tries as cer­ti­fied bona- fide en­gi­neers.

MIU is also recog­nised as a part­ner for the In­dus­try Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence in Biotech­nol­ogy by the Education Min­istry.

MIU is backed by Ma­ni­pal Global Education group, an in­ter­na­tional provider of higher education which owns and op­er­ates sev­eral univer­sity cam­puses and med­i­cal col­leges in the US, An­tigua, Dubai, In­dia, Malaysia and Nepal.

For mer­i­to­ri­ous stu­dents, MIU of­fers more than RM2.6mil worth of schol­ar­ships, which in­cludes up to 100% schol­ar­ship for foun­da­tion pro­grammes and mul­ti­ple waivers of tu­ition fees based on SPM re­sults.

MIU is also of­fer­ing free hos­tel fa­cil­i­ties for a year for those in the April in­take of the foun­da­tion pro­grammes. Stu­dents opt­ing for diploma pro­grammes will get schol­ar­ships up to RM13,000 ( 40% off the tu­ition fee).
