Business school takes a dynamic path

-

THE commitment to teaching and learning at Taylor’s Business School is one that will allow all Taylor’s Business School students to graduate with a deeper appreciation of the community and have a frame of mind that goes beyond profit- making.

This approach is something that is in place throughout all stages of education at Taylor’s Business School, even from the level of foundation.

Taylor’s Business School dean Vinitha Guptan said that at Taylor’s Business School, students are provided with an allencompassing, holistic approach to education to inculcate a sense of responsibility among all students for their community and the world at large to enable them to become responsible members and leaders of the business community.

“We believe that every individual has the capacity to impact change and have put into the curriculum, ways and means for our students to challenge and grow to be better human beings and individuals. We want them to take part in activities that allow them to step out of their comfort zone and try new things to gain an understanding about reallife issues while also picking up skills to grow themselves in the business field.

“We look to grow our students’ awareness about happenings and activities by getting them to participate in activities that are fun and help them increase their awareness about serious issues and develop their business acumen.

“We also want them to graduate with a sense of responsibility for their immediate community and organise trips based on giving back to society,” she said.

Taylor’s Business Foundation students are also encouraged to be creative and think outside the box when coming up with solutions for business challenges or issues.

Taylor’s Business School works with the industry, non- governmental organisations ( NGOs) and the community to provide Taylor’s Business Foundation students unique educational experiences aimed to give them a holistic learning experience.

Over the last year, Taylor’s Business Foundation students have shown remarkable aptitude in the course of their studies, which has seen them work collaboratively to create awareness through creative videos for WWF Malaysia, Kiwanis Foundation Project and Grace Community Services.

Taylor’s Business Foundation students created websites and videos about the efforts undertaken by Kiwanis Foundation Project after visiting the establishment’s office during the year.

The students are also involved with creating awareness for the Food Angel Project, organised by Grace Community Services. They worked in groups to create 15 videos, which are open for the public to vote on the effort as part of their coursework.

The winning video will be used by Grace Community Services to promote the Food Angel Project, which is a very gratifying outcome as it allows Taylor’s Business Foundation students to see the impact of their work in the community.

These are just some of the many dynamic activities that Taylor’s Business School adopts to inculcate skills and values relevant to the business sector in Taylor’s Business Foundation students.

These students also gain from Life Skills and Soft Skills Workshops organised by Taylor’s Business School. Through these workshops, the students are able to enhance their time management, brainstorming, note taking, public speaking and presentation skills while learning how to better understand people and personalities as well as improve their ability to work as a team.

“Taylor’s Business Foundation students gain from the dynamic environment they are part of, which encourages two- way interaction between students and lecturers. Learning also takes place beyond the classroom via community service, participation in competitions and many more. The programme stimulates their curiosity and appreciation of knowledge, and inspires lifelong learning,” said Vinitha.

Upon successful completion of the programme, Taylor’s Business Foundation students are eligible to enrol into the degree programmes offered by Taylor’s Business School, creating a seamless transition towards pursuing a future in business.
