Limitless study options

-

THE end of SPM examination marks an end and a beginning; the end of a students’ secondary schooling days and the beginning of their tertiary education pathway.

Students often find themselves lost and indecisive on what course of study to pursue.

It is important to choose a field of study they are interested in and passionate about, and also an institution that provides a wholesome and well- rounded education experience.

KDU University College and KDU College do just that.

The institutions not only educate and prepare students for their undergraduate studies, but also provide the support, pastoral care and personalised attention the students need to ensure learning is optimised, are on the right track and gain entrance into the best universities and degree programmes.

At KDU, students have the option of choosing from four different foundation programmes – Foundation in Arts, Foundation Studies in Art and Technology, Foundation Studies ( Science) and Foundation in Engineering – and designed to cover the area of study, integrating practical and hands- on projects to produce learning outcomes that will set the students on their degree pathways.

The Foundation in Arts programme is perfect for students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the humanities stream such as business, management, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, mass communication and media studies.

The Foundation Studies ( Art and Technology) is a one- year programme that prepares students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue degree programmes in the areas of game development, business, communication, computing or hospitality.

This programme allows students to have a strong grasp of core subjects according to their choice of programmes at the degree level, and a variety of other subjects to give them a broad- based education platform.

As for Foundation Studies ( Science), the programme sets as an entry qualification for degree programmes in the areas of engineering, computer science, general science and many others with specific exposure given to focus modules such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The Foundation in Engineering programme at KDU gives students a strong foundation in physical sciences and technical knowledge in engineering.

Students are introduced to a variety of engineering- based subjects to help them decide which field of engineering they’d like to pursue thereafter.

KDU also offers two other pre- university programmes – Cambridge GCE A- Level ( Science and Arts) and the University of New South Wales ( UNSW) Foundation Studies ( Commerce and Science) – preparing students to meet entrance standards at an international level.

The Cambridge GCE A- Levels is internationally recognised for entrance into undergraduate degree courses such as medicine, law, engineering and more.

Since its commencement, KDU students have continued to gain access into top universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Manchester and London.

KDU students also regularly bag awards at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.

The recent Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards held in November 2015 saw KDU’s Wong Jian Lin and Hooi Wei Cheng awarded “Top in Malaysia – History” and “Top in World – Mathematics” awards respectively.

The UNSW Foundation Studies – only offered in KDU – is one of Australia’s leading foundation courses and is the longest established foundation programme in Australia.

It offers a full academic programme with a wide range of subjects and is a university entrance qualification recognised by the UNSW and all universities throughout Australia and New Zealand.

KDU believes in providing a well- rounded experience for its students through all its programmes.

“KDU believes in providing a holistic education, through practical and hands- on approaches to the modules as well as placing emphasis on extracurricular programmes,” said Head of the School of Pre- University Studies Sathyavathy Rasanayagam.

“This exposure is valuable because it is more personal and strikes a more relatable ground with our student,” said Sathyavathy.

The Foundation Studies ( Art and Technology) and Foundation in Engineering programmes are offered at KDU University College, Utropolis Glenmarie, while the Foundation in Arts, Foundation Studies ( Science), Cambridge GCE A- Level and University of New South Wales ( UNSW) Foundation Studies programmes are offered in KDU College.
