SINCE its establishment in 1967 as a pioneering non- profit institution offering art courses, Malaysian Institute of Art ( MIA) has played an important role in the development of art education in Malaysia.

MIA currently offers seven diploma courses in Fine Art, Illustration, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Textile & Fashion Design, Industrial Design and Music. All the courses offered are accredited by Malaysia Qualifications Agency ( MQA).

The institute has established international links with prestigious universities and colleges in the UK, Australia, Taiwan and China among others and opportunities are widely available for students who are keen to further their studies overseas through advanced placement or credit transfer.

MIA has been consecutively awarded a five- star ranking under Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for Private Colleges ( MyQUEST) since 2011.

This ranking is a testimony of MIA’s provision of a holistic academic curriculum, ample and up- to- date resources, good administration and well sought after graduates.

The institute is known for its quality education that produces competent graduates who are industry ready.

Over the years, students have won many awards and recognition at both local and international competitions. Some of the major wins include Nippon Paint Young Designer Award 2015, Piala Seri Endon Batik Design Competition 2015, 2015 UOB Painting of the Year Competition and Conqueror Happy Design Contest 2014, to name a few.

In the international field, students from the music department won in the 4th International Vietnam Choir Competition 2015 as well as the 3rd Seoul International Harmonica Festival 2015.

MIA is now open for its new intake which commences on April 25. In conjunction with that, MIA will be holding its Open Day on March 26 and 27 from 9.30am to 4pm.
