Scholarship makes it all possible

-

THE ImPossible Scholarship is a recent effort under the # PROJECTIMPOSSIBLE campaign by IACT College to highlight student achievements. The scholarship lets successful applicants receive a full scholarship for specific tertiary programmes conducted at IACT College.

Each scholar is guaranteed an internship placement with a world- class company during the course of their programme and may even be considered for full- time employment upon graduation.

The following three recipients qualified for the full scholarship to share their unique experience in the selection process.

Justin Wong Zhe Xuan, a first- year student pursuing his BA ( Hons) in Media, Culture & Communication ( University of Sunderland, UK) at IACT College, describes IACT College as the best institution to study creative communication.

“( IACT) has wide connections with creative professionals and the programmes are taught by industry- experienced lecturers.

“The ImPossible Scholarship interview was a refreshing experience as it was a group interview. We realised how important it is to work together as a team. I’ve learned a great life lesson – we cannot achieve success alone.”

For Pong Qui Wu, getting the scholarship meant being able to study at a college he defines as the most caring, motivating and helpful college compared to others.

“I think the biggest difference is the people. I've never experienced such bond and love within a work organisation and I believe I can learn from this and develop better communication skills,” says Pong.

“Getting the scholarship wasn’t easy. The tough part was demonstrating teamwork while managing my ego and still standing out.”

For Lim Swee Yee from SMJK Kwang Hua, her sterling SPM results placed her in a good position to qualify for the scholarship at what she terms her “favourite” college.

“IACT College was my first choice as I was attracted to the project- based learning teaching methods that enable students to work with top- tier companies.”

The selection process proved a new challenge for her as it tested team- building skills which were unrelated to her capability to achieve 11As.

“I realised that to compete positively was not about winning but about leveraging on each other’s strength,” she says.

“The ‘ I’ became ‘ we’ and we didn’t mind sharing whatever resources we had so we all could shine as a team, not as individuals.”

Aside from the three recipients, other ImPossible Scholarship winners – Lim Ee Yeng and Teressa Tan – also proved worthy of the scholarships by demonstrating not just scholastic success but good attitude, dynamism and selflessness.

This year, students who attain the ImPossible Scholarship will not only earn full scholarship ( a waiver of their programme tuition fees), but be considered for full- time employment upon graduation with companies such as AirAsia, UMobile, GroupM, PosAd Media, Resort World Genting, Nestle, Domino’s, Monster Interactive, FCB and GrimFilm.

SPM- leavers who are interested to apply for the ImPossible Scholarship can apply through iact. edu. my/ impossible- scholarship.

IACT College is always on the lookout for passionate students with a will to excel in the creative communication field.

Founded in 1970 by the creative communication industry, IACT College offers degree, diploma, foundation and certificate programmes in mass communication, media, marketing, advertising, broadcasting, graphic design and creative multimedia.
