Reconnecting and enjoying life
ARE you in a bit of a rut and not enjoying yourself the way you ought to be? Although outrageous activities can give you a boost, it’s the simple things in life that give us the most pleasure. Here are some simple pleasures that will help you reconnect with friends, family and nature.
Reconnect with old friends
There’s nothing like talking to someone who knew you when your favourite food was a lollypop and who still remembers your first crush. Make a list of the people you haven’t seen in months and arrange to get together over a cup of coffee for a really
good gossip.
Cook something nice
Chopping vegetables, making sauces, setting the table with cut flower decorations, and getting everything just right satisfy creative yearnings – and you can eat it too. Consider inviting those old friends to come help cook and share in the spoils.
Pamper your pet
Brushing the cat, walking the dog, or just sitting together and cuddling is incredibly uplifting. In fact, studies show spending time with your pet improves heart health and blood pressure as well as lowering stress levels overall. And it will do you good too.
Go to the park
There is something very primal about being outside, surrounded by nature, watching the sun rise and seeing the animal kingdom go about its business. If you’re fit, go rambling or climb a mountain. Alternatively, just get out to a green area and wallow in the wonder that is Nature.
Listen to your favourite music
Dig out all your old favourites, stack them on top of each other, and play your best tunes.
Dance like a maniac while you’re at it. It will give you a great workout and it will get those endorphins, natural feel good chemicals, churning.
