Build your credentials

UNITAR International University’s Faculty of Business Technology and Accounting ( FBTA) has strong linkages with industry partners that are known for excellence in their respective fields.

As part of the programme curriculum, students are required to complete an industrial attachment.

The faculty’s emphasis is in building credentials and striving to work closely with industries through research and consultancy.

UNITAR provides students with current knowledge and invaluable work experience, which will prepare them to be working professionals in the corporate world.

FBTA offers both full- time and part- time programmes and these programmes are delivered in conventional and distancelearning modes.

Some of the top FBTA programmes include the Diploma in Management, Diploma in Accountancy, Diploma in Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Information Technology. All these programmes attract a substantial number of students.

As part of its contribution to nationbuilding, FBTA has directed concerted efforts to assist in capacity building for the accounting profession.

As the country is facing a shortage of qualified professional accountants, FBTA offers a specially designed Bachelor of Accounting programme that allows students to take professional accounting papers in their third and fourth year of study so that they are entrenched in the professional pathway by the time they graduate.

This will ensure more accounting graduates become professional accountants. The Bachelor of Accounting programme is also fully accredited by ACCA ( Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), ICAEW ( Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and CPA Australia ( Certified Practising Accountants Australia).

The faculty offers a specialisation in internal audit where students are able to complete the Certified Internal Auditor certification while in their final year.

FBTA currently offers four part- time programmes at UNITAR that are designed to cater to the needs of working professionals through its unique student- centred learning environment that combines conventional and e- learning delivery.

FBTA strives to work closely with industries through research and consultancy. These are key factors of continuous development to ensure curriculum offerings meet the industry expectation for UNITAR’s student body.

UNITAR stresses the importance of bringing industry experience to the classroom and taking the classroom to the industry to further boost students’ exposure.

One of the common misperceptions in the business world is that individuals who work in the information technology ( IT) sector do not understand business needs.

IT programmes at UNITAR are being revamped to meet the current needs and expectations of the industry. FBTA is embedding new certifications within its IT programmes.

The first certificate equips students with knowledge in finance, accounting and business. The other certification focuses on business intelligence.

With these certifications, students are equipped with a much higher chance of employment and provided a pathway to career advancement.

With UNITAR’s holistic innovative teaching and learning methodology, UNIEC ( UNITAR Education Core) Learning Management System supports all programmes in FBTA and UNITAR.

The UNIEC virtual platform, which can be accessed via the UNIEC Tab or tablet device, brings the classroom to students anytime and anywhere. This way, they can connect and engage with anyone.

Registration for the April intake of the undergraduate programmes is open from March 17 to April 17 at the main campus in Kelana Jaya or any of the eight independent campuses in Alor Setar, Ipoh, Johor Baru, Kota Baru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Malacca and Penang.

Online applications can be done on the university’s website.
