SATURDAY: Coming after Sibelius’ dark and moody First Symphony, Nielsen’s Flute Concerto, immediately accessible and full of charm, shines like a ray of bright sunlight. The contrast between the two could not be greater, yet each provides a hefty measure of aesthetic fulfilment. One of Liszt’s dashing, daring Hungarian rhapsodies gives the programme a zippy ending.

Don’t Let Shakespeare Know. The play features seven directors with seven short plays related to Shakespeare, remixing the scripts of his classic pieces and presenting them in a fresh new take to recapture his fans.

MARCH 30: LOL @ Live House presents a special charity comedy show, with proceeds from all ticket sales going to the Projek57 Movement. The show, a Laugh Nation – A Projek57 Comedy Special, will feature a lineup of the best homegrown comedians, with Douglas Lim as headliner. Other comedians taking to the stage include Andrew Netto and Sulaiman.
Projek57 is a social enterprise which sells T- shirts and other merchandise designed to display messages of Unity and Hope for Malaysia. It desires to create a Movement of Hope of 1,000,000 nationbuilders, with 1,000,000 T- shirts worn by 1,000,000 Malaysians sharing 1,000,000 stories and messages of love and hope for Malaysia.

SUNDAY: Celebrated Malaysia artiste Lee Long Looi’s new retro- spective, a 68- page hardcover book, will be launched with much pomp in his new spiritual home, Penang. Lee, who has made a name for himself in the United States since the 1970s, is inspired by the living world around him, and his artworks are a reflection of his deep- rooted respect for the elements.

APRIL 22- 24: The Malaysian Hospice Council will be hosting a congress for medical, allied healthcare providers, volunteers and lay people. The objective is to update palliative care providers with the latest approaches, allow an interchange of ideas, experiences, meet and learn from one another, and for lay people to be exposed to and learn essential skills in the field.
Six overseas and 42 local speakers will share in pre- congress workshops, plenary sessions, talks, concurrent nursing symposia suitable for equipping professionals and lay public to care for friends and family with life- limiting illnesses.
The Congress will be launched by the Health Minister, Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam, with the keynote address, “Palliative Care Is Everyone’s Business”, given by Dr Cynthia Goh.
