SATUR­DAY: Com­ing af­ter Si­belius’ dark and moody First Sym­phony, Nielsen’s Flute Con­certo, im­me­di­ately ac­ces­si­ble and full of charm, shines like a ray of bright sun­light. The con­trast be­tween the two could not be greater, yet each pro­vides a hefty mea­sure of aes­thetic ful­fil­ment. One of Liszt’s dash­ing, dar­ing Hun­gar­ian rhap­sodies gives the pro­gramme a zippy end­ing.

MARCH 30: LOL @ Live House presents a spe­cial char­ity com­edy show, with pro­ceeds from all ticket sales go­ing to the Projek57 Move­ment. The show, a Laugh Na­tion – A Projek57 Com­edy Spe­cial, will fea­ture a lineup of the best home­grown co­me­di­ans, with Dou­glas Lim as head­liner. Other co­me­di­ans tak­ing to the stage in­clude An­drew Netto and Su­laiman.

Projek57 is a so­cial en­ter­prise which sells T- shirts and other mer­chan­dise de­signed to dis­play mes­sages of Unity and Hope for Malaysia. It de­sires to cre­ate a Move­ment of Hope of 1,000,000 na­tion­builders, with 1,000,000 T- shirts worn by 1,000,000 Malaysians shar­ing 1,000,000 sto­ries and mes­sages of love and hope for Malaysia.

APRIL 22- 24: The Malaysian Hospice Coun­cil will be host­ing a congress for med­i­cal, al­lied health­care providers, vol­un­teers and lay peo­ple. The ob­jec­tive is to up­date pal­lia­tive care providers with the lat­est ap­proaches, al­low an in­ter­change of ideas, ex­pe­ri­ences, meet and learn from one an­other, and for lay peo­ple to be ex­posed to and learn es­sen­tial skills in the field.

Six over­seas and 42 lo­cal speak­ers will share in pre- congress work­shops, ple­nary ses­sions, talks, con­cur­rent nurs­ing sym­posia suit­able for equip­ping pro­fes­sion­als and lay pub­lic to care for friends and fam­ily with life- lim­it­ing ill­nesses.

The Congress will be launched by the Health Min­is­ter, Datuk Seri S. Subra­ma­niam, with the key­note ad­dress, “Pal­lia­tive Care Is Ev­ery­one’s Busi­ness”, given by Dr Cyn­thia Goh.

Di­a­mond Dogs will rock it at No Black Tie’s David Bowie trib­ute tonight.
