Going online

-

STUDENTS today are no longer confined to the classroom as online learning platforms continue to grow worldwide. Benefits of online learning go beyond convenience – in fact, some find online environment more conducive to their learning styles.

If you are a motivated self- starter who enjoys online interaction through social media sites, e- mail and other interactive means, online learning may be the right fit for you. Online learning is not limited to the students in the universities itself – it provides opportunities for working adults to obtain a tertiary education. In time, the demand for a workforce with additional qualifications becomes a need for employers and individuals to pursue courses online.

The Online Distance Learning ( ODL) model has been initiated to go along with that need. ODL provides educational opportunities that are not limited to the time and space constraints of traditional classes.

Anyone with an access to the Internet can log on to ODL on the computer, tablet or smartphone and learn anywhere at any time and at a pace that suits him. This is appropriate for students who are already in the workforce, in locations where appropriate education is inaccessible, or who need to maintain a flexible learning schedule.

City University College of Science and Technology ( CityUC) offers ODL for working adults. The courses offered are Bachelor in Business Administration and Master in Business Administration, both commenced since January. The application is also open for STPM school- leavers and Diploma holders.

The payment schedule includes EPF withdrawal, MyBrain15 Scholarship, Pay Per- Course Basis and 0% Easy Pay. ODL in CityUC is offered in a hybrid mode with the latest curriculum. It is centralised on highly demanded specialisations. In addition, user- friendly learning system and latest technology such as virtual classroom session will give students the chance to learn from CityUC instructors across the world. Students will experience the convenience, as they are able to access course materials 24 hours a day and benefit from a flexible schedule, which is helpful while balancing studies with work and family life.

All programmes in CityUC have been accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency ( MQA) and professional bodies such as Board of Engineers Malaysia, Nursing Board of Malaysia, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ( ACCA) and The Department of Occupational Safety and Health ( DOSH). CityUC now offers a 100% scholarship on tuition fees amounting to more than RM9mil during the entire duration of the Diploma and Bachelor programmes for the first 100 applicants who enrol for selected courses.
