A solid pledge
A TOTAL of 1,440 new The Management and Science University ( MSU) students took their students oath recently during a ceremony held as a conclusion to the Orientation Week for the 2016/ 2017 academic session at MSU’s Chancellor Hall. The programme was organised by the Student and Career Development ( SCD) department. The oath- taking was lead by Diploma in TESL student Sarah Indrawati Aris before MSU’s president Prof Tan Sri Datuk Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Yajid, senior management and faculty members of the university. Also in the ceremony were students of the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering, International Medical School, School of Pharmacy, School of Education and Social Sciences, School of Hospitality and Creative Arts and Centre for Foundation Studies. The ceremony was important and meaningful as it acknowledged the students as responsible “MSU citizens”. It is an important tradition of instilling culture of excellence and the oneness of purpose among students.
In his address, Prof Shukri reminded students to make full use of the opportunity given to them and gain as much knowledge as possible. He also hoped the Orientation Week would prove beneficial for them to appreciate the demands of a university life and look towards a journey of academic excellence. As part of efforts to enrich students with international exposure, MSU allocated 50 scholarships under the Global Mobility Programme ( GMP). This programme allows students to choose from over 40 partner universities in the Asean region, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, the UK, the US and Eastern Europe. The opportunity to study at these universities will further enrich the student’s development and enhance their career prospects.
This exposure serves to complete the students’ development into competent and employable graduates. MSU is one of Malaysia’s top universities and focuses in the critical areas of studies that encompass Medicine, Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Information Sciences and Engineering, Business Management and Professional Studies, Education and Social Sciences, Hospitality and Culinary and Music and Fashion.
As Malaysia’s best teaching and learning university, MSU gives priority to quality education and the importance of creative teaching methodologies towards producing quality graduates. Besides incorporating international exposure in the students learning experience, extensive industrial training components and personal enrichment competency elements are also blended into the programme of study to ensure the graduates employability. Until now, MSU graduates remain the popular choice among employers. A graduate tracer study conducted by the Malaysian Higher Education Ministry shows a 98% employability rate of graduates’ entering the working environment. This rate is the highest among all higher learning institutions in Malaysia.
