So it’s not another Harry Potter book, it’s the script of a play, but hey, who’s complainin­g?

CAN’T make it to the offic ial opening of J. K. Rowling’s H arry P otter And The Cursed Child play on Saturday in London? Well, Malays ian Potterhead­s c an c ons ole thems elves with a copy of the s c ript, whic h will be available in loc al books tores on Sunday.

H arry P otter And The Cursed Child is the offic ial continuati­on of Rowling’s s even- part book s eries and it was written for the s tage by Rowling hers elf, along with Jac k Thorne and John Tiffany; the play is direc ted by Tiffany.

The s tory takes plac e 19 years after H arry P otter And The Deathly Hallows ends and follows Harry’s youngest son, Albus , at Hogwarts Sc hool of Witc hc raft and Wizardry.

E ntertainme­nt Weekly reports that pre- orders of the s c ript book – H arry P otter And The Cursed Child: P arts O ne & Two ( Spec ial Rehears al Edition Sc ript), to give it its c omplete and very full name – has already topped bes ts eller lis ts on Amazon. c om and at Americ an books tore c hain Barnes & Nobles ; and als o, ac c ording to AFP, at Britis h books tore c hain Waters tones .

It is the mos t pre- ordered book for Barnes & Noble s inc e H arry P otter And The Deathly H allows in 2007. That las t novel s old 11 million c opies within 24 hours of its releas e: 2.7 million c opies in Britain and 8.3 million in the United States .

To the general public , the Harry Potter univers e might be returning from a long hiatus with the releas e of the s c ript, but for people like Janeen Shaffer and Dus tin Kohl, the magic never left.

“I’ve had people tell me it’s over,” Shaffer, 45, s ays in her home in Pennsylvan­ia, United States , where s he has hundreds of Harry Potter items . “No, it’s not over. It’s c ontinuing, jus t like S tar Wars did.”

Shaffer’s hous e is filled with Harry Potter memorabili­a. She has all s even books in the Britis h and Americ an vers ions , all eight movies , the audio books , unauthoriz­ed books , a bed s et and pillows , c lothing, hats , s oc ks , pins , snowglobes , pos ters , figurines , toys , jewellery, wallets , purs es , cardboard cutouts and countles s other items .

She often takes a butterbeer recipe to Starbucks and even has her own 18- pers on home theatre with a projec tor and big s c reen to watc h the films whenever s he wants .

“It jus t c lic ked for me,” s he s ays . “I don’t get tired of it. It’s alot of fun for me.”

She s hares her love of the s eries with her 13- year- old daughter, Emily, who found her love of reading in the H arry P otter books .

Kohl, 25, als o of Pennsylvan­ia, has three Harry Potter tattoos on his legs : a Deathly Hallows symbol, a broken key from the firs t book, and the fac e of villain Lord Voldemort.

He owns all the books and movies , wands from the Univers al Studios park, pos ters and other piec es of memorabili­a.

“It felt like home when a new book c ame out,” Kohl s ays .

“You went out to midnight parties and people were exc ited with you. It takes you to a new world.”

Shaffer s ays s he will be at the mall to pic k up her pre- ordered copy, but Kohl s ays he will be out firs t thing Sunday morning to find his .

“I’m s uper exc ited,” Kohl s ays . “She ( Rowling) is letting us know what’s going on after the las t book. This is taking everyone bac k to their childhood. The magic is definitely s till there.”
