Hospitality gains traction

-

STUDENTS who aspire to an exciting and rewarding career in the hospitality and tourism industry can pursue programmes at the fast- growing Quest International University Perak ( QIUP) in Ipoh.

The hospitality and tourism field provides a wide range of career opportunities in industrial sectors such as hotels, travel and tours, airlines, cruise liners, theme parks and other service- related industries.

As the hospitality and tourism industry is in continuous need of well- trained and capable managerial staff, QIUP’s core syllabus equips graduates with the right skill sets and knowledge to work in a professional and people- oriented environment.

QIUP’s Bachelor of Business Administration ( Hons) in Hospitality and Tourism Management is developed based on feedback from industry experts on the industry’s current needs.

The university has also introduced Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Tourism Management. In addition, it will soon launch a culinary arts programme.

The programmes’ coursework content gives broad coverage of the best practices in the hospitality industry. The curriculum includes both research and internship components.

The internship involves valuable hands- on training on the multiple facets of hotel management at premier local and international hotels.

To ensure undergraduates of the hospitality programme are job- ready when they graduate, QIUP has inked Memoranda of Understanding ( MoU) with various hotels such as Copthorne Hotel in Cameron Highlands, Syeun Hotel in Ipoh and Swiss- Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut in Lumut, Perak.

The MoU with the various hotels are aimed at ensuring QIUP’s hospitality and tourism management students have access to the best training opportunities available in hotels, resorts and other hospitality- related sectors.

QIUP students pursuing the Bachelor of Business Administration ( Hons) in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Tourism Management will undergo three to four months of industrial training attachment as part of their curriculum.

The full- time three- year degree programme and two- and- a- halfyear diploma programmes provide global, industry- specific and quality education at an affordable fee.

Working professionals can opt to pursue these programmes on a part- time basis – five and a half years to complete the degree and four years for the diplomas.
